Do you see a white dress in this picture? When your brain is more active – TV 2

There was much fanfare when 21 year old Caitlin McNeill let out a Tumblr-image of a dress in February this year.

The Scottish woman had set itself tired of the discussion if it were white and gold or blue and black, and asked why the followers its about what they meant.

It was then that it took completely.

Science Daily writes that researchers at the University Clinic Bergmann Heil in German Bochum now argue that if you think that dress is white and gold, so you have a more active brain.

The study is published in the research journal Cortex, and here one can read that the those who see a white and gold dress, actually has a brain that is working overtime.

A number of voluntary participants saw dress picture while lying in an MRI scanner.

The researchers scanned the participants’ brain activity and found this:

Those who saw white and gold, had extra activity in the frontal – and parietal lobe of the brain .

These two areas are important in both visual perception, selective attention and mental understanding.

The researchers concluded that people who looked white and gold worked extra hard to understand image and therefore they thought that the blue color was only shadow on a white dress .

– These results may extend gains knowledge about visual perception in the brain, says Professor Tobias Schmidt-Wilcke at the university website.

Convinced

Caitlin McNeill told earlier this year Business Insider that she was surprised how quickly dress her image went viral .

She also said that there is no doubt what color dress really have.

– I was a wedding and the bride’s mother wore this dress. It is blue and black, she said.
