A new app lets you rate other people – ITavisen.no

– Do they have never been on the Internet? asks talk show host John Oliver.

You’ve probably heard about the recommendation service Yelp, which allows users to rank among other restaurants and night spots.

Now app Peeples they allegedly let users rank all the people they know, or Yelp to report people who Huffington Post describes the app.

According to the developers, they want to spread love and positivity with the app, while Last Week Tonight- host, John Oliver, is not particularly impressed.

– The internet is a crane that spreads hatred, racism and the occasional sad orgasm, said Oliver during Sunday’s show and added:

– Essentially exist Internet so people can say bad things about each other. We do not need yet another app for facilitating it. We need something that prevents people from being hurt, told Oliver.

Shout into the void
As a rebuttal to Peeples app has Oliver and his gang launched a website they call “Scream Into The Void,” which allows people to write hate speech without consequences.

– Just write down the horrendous tank, press the button at the bottom and the message will be deleted forever. It’s brilliant, explained Oliver during the show.
