Now that 110 million upgrade to Windows 10 since deployment in July, it was time for Microsoft to follow up with a proper hardware launch.
The company delivered – the first big star during Tuesday’s launch was Surface Pro 4, as expected. But there is little doubt that it is a little monster of a machine, more than just a quick upgrade of the popular third generation of the hybrid. Now that Land series has begun to get copies from several directions (both Apple and Google have jumped on the form factor), it was up to Microsoft to show that they can still lead the way.

Surface Pro 4 will be the thinnest and most powerful Intel Core machine ever, and is based on Skylake chip.
It is thinner than its predecessor (8.4 millimeters), but the dimensions are still taken care of so it should work with older keyboards and accessories. Meanwhile, Microsoft sandwiched in a slightly larger screen, 12.3 inches instead of only 12 inches.
Surface unit that made pen use relevant again, and this tool has also received an upgrade. It can read 1024 levels of pressure, has an eraser on the other end, and can be attached magnetically to the side of the device.

The keyboard has also been given new opportunities. The most interesting is perhaps the fingerprint reader that is now built into (we understand it, however, so this will only be available in USA). The new Type Cover keyboard can also gotten a proper touchpad made of glass, which is 40 percent larger than the previous version. The relatively small touchpad was a challenge for older Surface models.
And a camera that user logs into Windows via Hello are built into.
A real laptop
While we thought that the Surface Pro 4 was all we got, took Microsoft until big cannon.
A full-fledged laptop, called Land Book. Twice as powerful as the MacBook Pro, the company said, with what should be a lovely, comfortable keyboard, touch pad, touch screen (13.5 inches) which also supports pen and battery life of twelve hours.
Land Book has obviously new Intel chips and Nvidia GPU, which supposedly has been optimized by the Xbox team for the best graphics performance.
The design is also worth noting: Book is really slim and well designed as the screen can be removed completely, snuff and reconnect so that the entire machine stands out as a piece of paper. Many manufacturers have tried on similar solutions, but this simply looks much more carried out. Screen decreased function as a tablet, but it connects back to the keyboard, the so-called character mode, the computer remains the full power of the GPU. All connections are also in the keyboard section.

Both new Surface machines come in October. We have the time of writing the final Norwegian prices or launch dates.
Although the two new Lumia phones emerges as proper fine and powerful. 950 series, which consists of two models, very powerful pieces and, amazingly, built water cooling technology. Not least, the phones support the new Continuum technology that makes the phones into full-fledged Windows 10 computers when they are connected to a screen, while still functioning as phones itself.

Lumia mobiles might have been reduced to a kind of reference machines that will showcase the potential of the mobile version of Windows 10. It is probably a bit unrealistic to assume that they will be sudden bestsellers. Land, however, is another matter. Microsoft is more than willing to prove that they can design exciting, innovative and cool hardware, and we begin to believe it. Surface is already a success in many markets, and deserves to really continue to grow.
