Listhaug denied holding appeal in Bodø – Avisa Nordland

Agriculture Minister Sylvi Listhaug in Bodø and the Progress Party National Executive Committee this weekend.

In an email Thursday directed Listhaug a request to March 8th Committee Bodo about getting hold an appeal during the celebration of Women’s Day Bodo.

“For years I have engaged me for minority women struggle for equality and the right to be heard. I have met women who have experienced being married off against their will. Some of them have been strong enough to break from the marriage and raise their voice in the public sphere. But unfortunately experiencing too many women that religious customs and traditions deprives them the right to express themselves and the ability to decide over their own lives and bodies. I want to give these women a voice on International Women’s Day, and send you therefore a request to hold an appeal in connection with the celebration of Women’s Day in Bodø. I can do me a few minutes, “writes Listhaug in the email to March 8th Committee in Bodo.

But the request was rejected by the March 8 Committee in Bodo.

In a reply to Listhaug printer manager for March 8 Committee in Bodo, Line G. Olsen, they do not have space for more appellant.

– “We greatly appreciate your interest in attending our event. Now it so we programmatically not accommodate more appealing that day, but we could certainly thought us your participation in the debate that we will implement, “writes Olsen in March 8th Committee in Bodo.

After this response addressed Listhaug once again to March 8th Committee in Bodo.

“I will earnestly request you to reconsider my request. I can confine myself five minutes. Hope it is possible to find room for this in the official program. It would mean a lot for me to be allowed to perform the message that I think is most important in the gender equality debate. It’s nice of you to offer me to attend a debate on freedom of expression and “to stand in the storm.” But for me this is a bit on the side of what is important on this day. I hope that you can still give me the opportunity and cross your fingers for a positive response, “writes Listhaug.

But the answer from the committee was final, and in a new answer emailprinter leader of March 8 Committee Bodo again that they unfortunately do not have space for more appellant.

– Disappointing

– This was disappointing, says Sylvi Listhaug to AN.

She notes that it was short notice to address the committee on Thursday, but still think she could have gotten the opportunity to hold appeal.

– I asked only about five minutes and did not intend to stay on indefinitely, says Listhaug.

– I’ve gotten great feedback on my article in VG on Thursday, and it was the same message I wanted to keep plea on 8 March. Since I’m in Bodo this weekend, it was natural to ask Bodo says Listhaug and points out that she has never held appeal on 8 March.

But her first March 8 appeal will not cause Bodo this weekend.

– It was disappointing, and since the theme is freedom of expression, I think maybe it had been in their place that they had left to someone who has a slightly different message. But I must respect that I can not escape, says Sylvi Listhaug.

She is, however, been invited by March 8 Committee Bodo to attend a debate on this day.

– I will say no to. There was a different theme than I wanted to keep plea on March 8, says Sylvi Listhaug.

– Have had to decline several

Head of March 8 Committee in Bodo, Line G. Olsen, told AN that they have not been able to say yes Listhaug because the program was already set, and out of respect to everyone involved in the program.

– We got the request for a couple days ago, and then our program set. We already have a pretty long program, and must also pay attention to it. Although she says five minutes, so it quickly becomes a bit more and then gets involved lopsided, says Olsen and points out that they have had to say no more.

– We rejected other requests that both have come before and after Sylvi Listhaug approached us, she says and continues:

– This is not about any party political point and it is nothing personal against her, and it’s not about what we as a committee believes.

But Olsen points out that they think it’s tremendous that the minister approached the committee.

– We think it’s tremendous that she would like to attend, and I have written to her in the email. We have offered her a place in the debate in the library and the space remains open and it is she warmly welcome, says Olsen.
