Tested

Instead of having a traditional control tower where people govern air traffic at the site, will receive placing cameras and sensors at airports. So gather tower personnel in a larger center, where one driver tower service to several airports simultaneously.

Avinor has tested the technology by Værøy Heliport and Røst.

– Many of the control tower in Norway was built 60-70 century, is ripe for renovation or replacement. With remote controlled turrets avoids Avinor and other airport operators large proportion of these costs. In the future, we also expect that one person will be able to handle the traffic at several airports from the same position, said Kirsebom.
