Report: Poor investigation in four out of ten cases of abuse – iTromsø

Moreover, the DNA sample of suspects demanded in only 60 percent of the cases where it was possible, according to the report, prepared by NCIS in cooperation with the Police Directorate, writes Bergens Tidende.

A group appointed by the Police Directorate has undergone investigation in 237 cases that were dismissed or adjudicated cases from ten police districts. Cases concern rape, incest, child molestation, blotting and sharing of abuse material.

In 61 percent of cases that the group has undergone, holding investigation “high or very high quality and efficiency.” 39 percent achieved however overall assessment “low or very low quality and efficiency.”

Police also receive criticism for using sound – and video recordings for little in interrogations, as well as for general low level of competence when it comes to recoup electronic tracks.

Only two police districts, Oslo and college, have stated that they consistently create a plan for the investigation of rape cases. (© NTB)
