NOTODDEN: Jesus turned water into wine. Torgeir Straand removes oil from water. That’s what nobody else has managed.
Torgeir Straand Telemark Technologies presented yesterday a world first. After several years of “drudgery” they have managed to reveal a completely new technology that cleans 99 to 100 percent of all the oil from the water. Since oil and diesel spills occur daily worldwide business potential enormously.
– The largest I’ve experienced in my life as an engineer, says Straand about breakthrough.
The technology developed by the subsea – and oil engineer developed a guilty conscience for being part of a system that gradually poisons the soil.
– The technology takes care of both large and small oil particles. Competitive is twofold. The purity is so great that in principle can drink water afterwards, but we will later this year improving the technology so that the water is actually drinkable. The second advantage is that the process goes very quickly, says Straand.
For example, removed 1,000 gallons of diesel in under a day.
The equipment has already tested by the largest laboratories in the world and Telemark Technologies has also implemented a real job of cleaning oil from water somewhere along the Norwegian coast. Straand would not say where. The equipment is nevertheless ready to use. The engineer is very so secretive when it comes to reveal any details of the invention. TA shall also not allowed to take pictures of the equipment is hidden behind a tarp. It is nonetheless clear that Telemark Technologies suck oil from the water and treat it chemically.
Straand conducted a test for the press yesterday in which he poured waste oil middle of an ocean glass where he had placed the actual secret, as compared on a cotton-like texture. After shaking the jar for five seconds, put the oil again and clean water gushed out. In practice, the equipment is placed in a container which customers can either rent or buy. Straand will not say anything about the price, but says he in September, informed the minister about the technology and that it will tell more.
There are two reasons why Straand have worked to achieve this technology. Oil and subsea industry is very cyclical and Straand wanted to have a leg to stand on that was not dependent on the oil industry. The other was guilty.
– The environmental aspect is important and this has little on conscience. Now we can clean up completely if something happens. Going forward, I primarily spend my time to give the world clean water, says Straand.
How technology actually works is first revealed at Telemark energy forum in September – when the major players in the oil and subsea industry going Notodden.
Another happy news from the technology park yesterday was that SIVA gives 100 million to expand the park with a test tank farm.
