Your side Let it be said at once: We like Windows 10. It is in our opinion a significant upgrade from its predecessor Windows 8. But everything can obviously be improved, and Microsoft is not quite there at all areas.
In this article we tell you about the negative experiences we have had with the operating system in the first week we had it on the test bench.

Nine things we dislike about Windows 10
# 1 – Not free for all
Have a PC with Windows 7 or 8.1, you can upgrade to Windows 10 without charge, but only for one year ahead. Has your PC XP or Vista, you can not upgrade anyway, and then your only option is to buy the operating system and install from scratch. The same applies if you are building your own PC. An OEM license is tied to the hardware, costs from 1100-1600 kroner – a not insignificant sum for many.
# 2 – Privacy
Default privacy settings in Windows 10 means that Microsoft can collect very much user data about you, which they have already received some pepper. We also responds that privacy settings are very complex, and it can be difficult to know what is necessary for the services to function and which can be safely deactivated.
# 3 – Settings and Control Panel
If you make adjustments in your operating system, you still need to deal with both the settings and the classic control panel. Also in Windows 8 Microsoft received criticism for this, so we think it’s strange that they have not yet managed to gather everything under Settings, and threw the control panel on the boat.
# 4 – Choices, choices and choices
Never before have you had several settings to choose from in the operating system. That’s fine for those who are keen to tailor the experience, but even for advanced users appear this as complex and not always easy. See also # 3.
# 5 – Occupied unfinished Apps
Operating offers a wealth of settings, apps usually have very few. Ticking for example of that Photos app to display images stored on OneDrive, you can not choose which folders it will retrieve the pictures from – it takes everything.
Groove Music does not let you modify metadata of files. The new movies and TV shows app does not support subtitles. We also miss being able to change the font size in Modern UI apps, which are often much larger than the standard Windows applications.
# 6 – Important feature of OneDrive away
cloud OneDrive is tightly integrated into the operating system, but an important function is removed since Windows 8: The ability to access files that are stored online, directly from the File Browser. The solution has the great advantage that you got access to directly, without having to have data stored locally – a necessity for anyone who has limited storage space on your PC. In Windows 10, you get access only to data from OneDrive synchronized locally, ergo you have 200GB stored in the cloud, you must also have space for these data locally if you open them from File Explorer.
# 7 – Cortana is not available in Norway
Microsoft has received much of its intelligent search assistant Cortana, which apparently helps you and gives you answers to most questions between heaven and earth.
But here in Norway we have yet to look far for this feature, and we know not yet as it becomes available.
# 8 – No longer voluntary updating
Microsoft wants all operating system updates are downloaded and installed automatically. Previously, you could opt out of this. Although it is basically a good thing always to be updated, there may be reasons why you want to decide when and how updates are downloaded oginstalleres. If, for example, Internet access via mobile broadband router, it is often associated with limitations to how much data can be downloaded in a month. When this automatic become animals.
# 9 – Can not switch search engine in Edge
We have already discussed Edge in positive terms, but the browser works while something unfinished. For instance we get not exchanged engine.
UPDATED: This is still possible, albeit somewhat cumbersome. Open for example google.no in a tab, select Settings from the menu, Advanced Settings, and select a new search engine in the field marked “Search the address bar with”. Thanks to you who told us about how this is possible!
But is it really so bad?
Windows 10 is just launched, and we naturally hope and faith that Microsoft is going to do something with our objections in future updates of the operating system. Overall, we are still far happier with Windows 10 than we ever managed to get Windows 8 …Also see: 11 things we love about Windows 10
