Microsoft Xbox One has now found its way to the Norwegian shelves – eventually someone will say. The console has already been on sale in several countries since the end of 2013 and our sister site Gamer.no had looked closely at Microsoft’s new major initiatives for over nine months ago.
In comparison, Microsoft’s main competitor when it comes to consoles, Sony’s PlayStation 4, been able to buy since the start of 2014 So, the question about the wait on a Norwegian Xbox One was worth it or not?
Since we have tested Xbox One Norway before the launch, it is a European model we have the edge on us. We have therefore taken this as a starting point, but we also tried the Norwegian Xbox during today’s launch at Microsoft.
Plug not stand out in the crowd

The issue we have received contains Microsoft’s voice and motion sensor Kinect, but it’s still so you can choose to buy a version without this if you want.
The first thing that strikes us is the weight of the whole package, because it is actually quite heavy. In the box we find a massive power supply, a controller, a headset with a microphone, an HDMI cable and the Kinect device as well as the console itself.

Microsoft’s new Xbox One is a relatively large unit. The console may at first glance resembles a retro VHS player from the happy 80′s, where the outer dimensions make it slide right into your stereo bench. The company has chosen to go for a glossy plastic surface that is half the front, while the switches to left-wing on top of the console.
The part that is not made up of glossy plastic has a ridge pattern with a matte finish. Between the grooves can warm air from the hardware pass out through a large fan in the top of the console. This does a very good job of camouflaging noise effectively. Clearly, Microsoft will not have multiple Xboxes in return. On the front of the console can only normally plate entrance of the embedded Blu-ray player, along with a warning that the console can not be moved while a disc in it.
The shiny black plastic surface is quite vulnerable when it comes to dust, grease stains and scratches. The console is in other words very sassy that day you pack it up, but will most likely be plagued by various external influences since. Xbox One is far from ugly, but plays no role as a focal point in your living room. Here we must say that the look of Sony’s PlayStation 4 captivates us more.

Big and bulky is something that strikes us as we pick up the Kinect device out of the box. It is also made of glossy black plastic, where the surfaces of the side mirror. Kinect includes both a microphone that lets you talk to it, and a camera that captures your movements. In addition, the so-called “IR-booster” that receives signals from other remote controls, such as control of your decoder. On the back it has also installed a fan to keep it cool.
Below the surface are the main changes
Although not the actual design of the console is among the most innovative, it’s under the hood that the important changes is. In all of their previous consoles have both Microsoft and Sony used processor architectures that have not been consistent with what ordinary PC user. This has made the game manufacturers have had to make different versions of the same game if they would offer it to all gamers out there.
When to use the x86 platform in terms of processors from AMD’s Jaguar Series, is job now simplified for game manufacturers. It will hopefully help the games is devoting more time to the content and function, rather than adapting to the different platforms.
Xbox One has the same amount of storage as its rival PlayStation 4, which means you have 500 GB available. During our test period we were never close to filling the drive to the rim, but if you need more, you need to start deleting the content or connect an external hard drive. It is not possible to replace the hard disk as the PlayStation 4.
A mixed game experience
Among the launch titles we’ve tested, we find FIFA 14, Dead Rising 3 and Forza Motorsport 5. launch day, however, you choose among all 66 games.
FIFA14 we must honestly admit that looks like the FIFA games have done in the last five years, possibly with better graphics. The dog seems to be even more cumbersome, or so-called realistic than before, without there being any fun to run after the ball because of that.
Dead Rising 3 provides much of the same experience. We see far more zombies than before and the gloomy byomgivelsene continues as far as the eye can see. Other than that turns the graphics ourselves more as an evolution than a revolution compared to the previous generation consoles at these games.
In Forza 5, one of Microsoft’s biggest and most important launch titles, we are however quite nykonsoll feeling back. With constant 60 fps hurtling down we paved the Alps, and we experience the famous Top Gear test track more true than ever before. The graphics are, in other words, step in the right direction.
Cars reminiscent clean photographs seen from outside, and even the interior of the cars have Forza developer Turn 10 finally got in a realistic way. If an unsuspecting would come creeping while you play, chances are that he thinks you’re watching a TV program – not a game.
Without going into the actual game experience, as our sister site Gamer.no taken care of, everything seems in other words to be very well where we whizzes across the pitch with dozens of spectacularly well-modeled cars. When we stop to see things closer, we understand, however, that the developer has had to make some hard priorities to achieve this.

The stadium, which is dotted with the crowd at the racetrack, still consists mainly of stiff cardboard dolls in addition to a few living characters. Other details such as a flag and as stiff despite or that we are on top of the Alps, as well as some structures are comp. All the thousands of trees that help to refine the path, consisting also of the same two to three bark and barteksturene.
The new hardware of Xbox One does not vigorous enough to provide the graphics they are completely great promises in relation to the previous games console to Microsoft – which has held the fort for the past eight years. Meanwhile, the long load times still something you have to put up with.
Although the console soon is now in its second year on the market, we still talk about the early game. The developers have received several new technologies and game engines to play around with, and it takes naturally enough time to find the shape that utilize these to the fullest. There are few today that measures the Xbox 360 graphics in Project Gotham Racing 3 and Perfect Dark. It is rather big titles like Halo Reach and GTA 5, which indicates the console found himself clean power loss, and we expect to see a similar graphics development with Xbox One in the next few years.
