It is the first time Telenor publish figures for how broadband traffic is distributed in the fixed network theirs.
There is streaming video which dominates with 60 percent of the total. The figures show that data traffic has increased 52 percent over the past year.
– Never before has video streaming constituted such a high proportion of the total, according to Telenor Monday morning.
Netflix adds alone consume 20 percent of all capacity broadband network, after only two years in the Norwegian market. YouTube accounts for 12 percent.
A lump sum of various other, smaller providers of videostrømmetjenestyer, including NRK, TV2 Sumo, HBO and Viasat together constitute 26 per cent.
A new and rapidly growing phenomenon is also direct video streaming of games (from the Playstation 4, Xbox One, PCs and smart phones) through service Twitch – which now accounts for 2 percent of the traffic in Telenor’s fixed network.
Annual surfing, reading news, search and the use of social media represent the remaining 40 percent of data traffic.

According to statistics there Sunday night is the time when Norwegians are most active. This period is up to 30 percent more broadband traffic than on a weekday.
Telenor states in a press release that they are well prepared for the increased demand.
– We have greatly upgraded broadband network and manages Hence, to handle the large traffic volumes generated by video services, said the company’s broadband expert Snorre Corneliussen.
Back in 2012, Telenor was taken completely by surprise when the American film and TV stream provider Netflix launched in Norway, as the first country in Europe. Telenor had it for several years been working on the development of its own flow service, Comoyo View. This was therefore a difficult start when the service was born last summer, and was discontinued three months later.
