Oslo uses 550 million on it – Computerworld

Oslo City Council presented its proposed budget yesterday. The budget adds up to the city council several online services for the residents of Oslo to experience municipality as service-oriented and efficient. The inhabitants should be able to take more good and informed choices for themselves and their loved ones, said the press release that the city council has issued in this matter. The municipality has set aside 550 million dollars to develop more fully electronic services over the next four years.

– It is now laying the foundations for the future of Oslo. The next few years investments will help to shape the city for a long time, says finance commissioner Eirik Lae Solberg in the press release.

– Oslo shows the way for the rest of the public sector, says Per Morten Hoff, Secretary General of ICT Norway in a comment. His explanation of the Oslo municipality sets of central funds municipal agencies can apply to develop new online services.

ICT Norway points out that the municipality is planning its own plans for welfare technology for nursing and care services. This investment is 20 million.

The organization points out that Stockholm has made a similar arrangement, which has yielded very positive results when it comes to developing good digital citizen services. ICT Norway points out that Stockholm has rationalized operations center significantly, and it is hoped that this is the intention of Oslo. ICT Norway is thus satisfied with the signals Finance Commissioner in Oslo now comes with.

Although ICT Norway has previously been highly critical of Oslo’s ICT operations, said the organization now that the direction is correct.

– The City Council’s budget promises Oslo’s digital efforts! The only thing that can be criticized now, that amounts to welfare technology and school networks are too small to expect major changes, but the direction is correct. In this area, the city council should now hold the steering wheel and also identify the accelerator, says Hoff in his comment.
