iOS 8 takes a LOT of storage space – ABC News

Updating the “over the air”, you almost 6 GB of free storage space. What can you do?

Apple’s new operating system, iOS 8 is a major update – literally.

So, what can you do? Wall Street Journal has gathered together some tips and tricks.



Delete, delete, delete

Game gladly take up much space, but make sure not to delete games that can not save progress with as Apple’s Game Center or Facebook. Some may be cranky if they have to start all over again …

Photos and video are taking the most space

So we recommend that you go into Spotify and WiMP and removes all the music you have stored offline. Those you might as well redownload again when iOS 8 is installed, just remember to do it via Wifi, so you do not have to use your data quota.

If none of this helps, the last resort is to delete it completely personal content, such as photos and videos. Wall Street Journal recommends that you load them into the computer.

Do you have a Mac, you can use iPhoto or Image Transfer program. If you use Windows, Apple guides for both Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP.

Another solution might be to upload your pictures to an online storage service like Dropbox, which also provides automatic backup of the apps.

And remember all means to make a backup before you start with the rydde- and update process.
