DinSide: Apple and Samsung dominate big on tablet front, but that does not mean that competition is lazy. For despite the fact that the top seems to be reached, it is still a giant market where many want to take their piece of the pie.
Asus is one of the world’s leading PC manufacturers, but also has a significant tablet-investment in time. So far they have done their best mark in the economy segment, including their MemoPad. We forget nor PadFone and Fonepad, which are hybrid tablet / mobile phones that we have tested and discussed here on DinSide earlier. Google’s Nexus 7 is moreover also produced by Asus.

2015 Edition: A nice upgrade
The first Memo Pad HD 7 has been on the market for a while, and the 16GB version you now for under a thousand tag in many online stores. We have not tested it, but the feedback from customers on PriceSpy may indicate that this is a marketable buy the cheap segment.
The successor we therefore look at has a new processor, much sharper screen and a material which immediately increases the feeling of quality.
It is thus clear that the company wants to hit a segment set slightly larger Claim this time .
Before we go any further, we take a quick look at the main characteristics, the previous version are in parenthesis.

There is already talk about pretty big improvement, but it also provided a higher price .
It is therefore more appropriate to compare the board to just Nexus 7, which got great reviews with us when we tested it last September. And here it is really much alike, but the Asus board has a few aces up its sleeve: 120 extra pixels in width when held vertically, and the option to expand the memory card. There are two advantages that are not the pushover.
Note also that Memo Pad HD 7 also comes in a version with 4G support surcharge. Alternatively you can of course use the shared internet on your smart phone.
Pen design
Design-wise, we like the board well. The quality feel is good, better than the Nexus 7 , we argue – thanks to backing metal. Our sample has color Rose Champagne , and you also get the Gentle Black and Burgundy Red .
Keeping it in landscape mode headphone jack sits on the left, sound adjustment and on / off button on top, microUSB right, and card slot for microSD cards underneath.
Poor camera
tablet has two cameras, one front and one rear.
The camera back can capture images at Inntel five megapixels and can also shoot at up to HD-ready resolution (1280 x 720 pixels). The front camera is perfectly fine for video conferencing and Skype, but do not expect all sorts of quality.
The same applies to the main camera, which is not exactly impressed us . Details are washed, hard contrast, and sharpening are overstated. This is ideal not just for extensive shooting and it is a pity.
Sharp screen
Sjutommer screen is however a very handy format and with the resolution, the text and images lovely crisp and pleasing to the eyes . IPS panel also has very good brightness and can withstand wide viewing angles.
Note that the resolution provides a 16: 10 ratio of height / width. In Android is however often away some space for the status bar at the top and the navigation buttons at the bottom, which still gives a little narrow image when using the board present.
User Experience and Performance
The board comes with a good number of apps that Asus is behind, in addition to standardappene in Android. Moreover, they have their own ZenUI interface to simplify the user experience, which we think works fine. The ease of use, we generally regard as well.
In addition, there are thousands of apps to download from Play Store, but the selection and quality is still lagging a bit after that iPad users can frolic in the Apple Store. You can still something to most needs, but it is good to be aware that this difference is still current.
Touch sensitivity is good, and supports up to 10 fingers. Navigation, starting and switching between apps is quick and easy.
Game Performance test in Epic Citadel gives us an average of 59.3 fps. It is actually one of the best we have measured in this resolution, and means you can expect usable performance in pretty graphics intensive games. The web performance are only some of the recent Galaxy Note / TAB boards from Samsung that boast better figures.
Neither 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited or Geekbench 3 seems to be Intel-compatible, since both measuring tools refused to let them install.
Battery test our demonstrated 10 hours and 9 minutes of continuous web surfing .
There are 51 minutes under the Asus specify as what to expect, but certainly approved. Note that small adjustments in brightness fast can pose many minutes of life.
Conclusion
2015 edition of Asus MeMo Pad 7 is a significant upgrade from the previous version, and has left a positive impression. Are you looking for a good Android-fold in the compact class, this is a board we definitely would have assessed the Google Nexus 7 The main objection is the camera quality, but if this is not important to you, Memo Pad 7 a wise choice.
The board comes in stores in mid-October and the price starts at around 2,000 million for the 16GB version, that is in the same price range as mentioned Nexus 4G 7th edition will cost thousands tag more. Nexus was crowned with a dice 6, but the competition and our expectations one year later is higher. We land regardless of a strong fiver for Asus MeMo Pad 7.
