Microsoft’s Outlook.com is a pretty functional solution for web-based email, but it has emerged as quite unchanged for quite a while.
Now it seems that users of the service can look forward to a number of changes, both in terms of the visual and formal, and under the hood.
The plan should be to migrate all users of Outlook.com to Office 365 during the year. It will still remain as a separate service for consumers, one should not need to subscribe to Office 365, but the underlying engine will therefore be far more modern.
The interface and functionality will also approach the Outlook Web Access, which is the bedriftsentriske edition of Microsoft’s Web client.
More seamlessly
The long term goal will be that Outlook, Exchange and Office 365 runs on common platforms, with functionality across and the corresponding user.
It also allows for features such as third-party applications, which has already been confirmed by Microsoft. Besides from Uber, Paypal and Boomerang (a tool that helps plan mailings of email and similar functions) are heading to the Outlook.com and Office 365.
The result will hopefully become a more united and efficient email experience.
