9 myths you need to stop believing – Future Requirements

[Nettavisen] In a technology world attending a tremendous pace, it is often the case that what is truth in one moment, stale tullball the next.

Business Insider has therefore made a list of a number of myths you now just need to throw out first as last and we have elaborated a bit.

1. Macs do not get viruses

This myth stems from the time when the virus on Mac was an unknown phenomenon, and Apple actively promoted itself as immune.

But the lack of virus was far way a result of any virus writers thought it was worth attacking the small percentage who used Macs. Mac users were therefore secure because they were few.

But as the Mac has become more popular, it has also become more lucrative for the cybercriminals to develop nasties targeting Mac.

No one would today argue that Mac users are immune to viruses and other security flaws – although one probably still safer than Windows users. The same applies in reason on mobile.

2. You surf anonymously with incognito / private mode

The popular called “porn mode” in your browser works well to ensure that the browser does not save track of which sites you visit. It is not stored in surf history, and cookies stored either. Thus, other users of the PC see what you have done.

But it does not mean you are any more anonymous to the sites you visit. They could still see the IP address and the like.

3. It is harmful not to take out the battery charger when the battery is fully

In the old days did not end battery chargers to push current into the battery when it was full, which was far from optimal. Modern battery is however not so stupid, so they stop charging when the battery is fully charged – even if the cable is in.

But: Modern batteries thrive when they are “almost full”. Do you use a laptop that is always plugged in and the battery is always fully charged, it can actually be an advantage to remove the battery when it is half full – or use functions that some manufacturers have only recharges for example, 80 percent. This can extend the battery life a bit.

4. Do not charge the battery until it is almost empty

At the time you had nickel-based batteries, it was a nuisance to charge the battery until it was almost completely empty. The reason was what was called the “memory effect” of the battery, causing the battery to be able to believe that the level it was loaded from last time as “empty”.

This effect is not available in modern batteries .

5. More megapixels = a better camera

An image consists of a certain number of pixels, and the more points you have, the more information can be stored – and possibly better view can be taken.

However, There are many other elements that determine picture quality than resolution. About the image sensor is too small, then increased resolution actually create more noise in the picture – and poorer quality in dark environments.

That it is high resolution does not mean that the optics or image processing is good.

Or to put it another way: It helps little with perfect vision looking out of a dirty window.

6. Higher screen resolution = better screen

To a great extent the same issue as with cameras: Basically higher resolution better, but the brightness is bad or color reproduction failure – it does not help that the screen has a high resolution.

As the resolution increases, so it becomes so high that you can no longer tell the difference.

At worst, high resolution mean poorer performance and lower battery capacity because a large screen requires more hardware in phone.

Besides: As the resolution is getting very high, you reach a point where you do not notice improvement of higher resolution.

7. Do not turn off your computer every day

This call originates from the time when people were worried about the mechanical load it is for the hard disk to spin up and down, like a thought might struggle more hard disk space than stand on the whole time.

Today cranks usually computer hard drive when it is not needed, so the wear happens all the time. The only thing you accomplish by not turning machine is a higher power.

8. You have to keep magnets away from your computer

Very powerful magnets can erase data from hard drives if they are close, but a regular speaker or refrigerator magnet will make no difference.

9. High signal strength = high quality cellular

The number of dots on the phone is just an indicator of how strong the signal is where you are. (ANB)
