Norcem can get CO2 full-scale project – Porsgrunn Dagblad

– Norcem is of course relevant, and we have been working for a long time, says plant director David Verdú at Norcem Brevik.

There were petroleum and energy Tord Lien as Thursday issued a press release in which he says Gassnova idéstudie which was submitted on 4 May, shows that it may be possible to reaisere ambition a full-scale demonstration project for CO2 sequestration in Norway.

– We will now carefully review the report of Gassnova and consider how to follow up the suggestions from industry players and Gassnova their recommendations, says Minister Tord Lien in the press release.

Idéstudien from Gassnova shows that several industrial companies may be willing to study CO2 handling further. The industrial actors interest in participating in a CO2 sequestration project depends on what kind of framework is established by the state.

Gassnova mentions in his idéstudie both Norcem Brevik and Yara Porsgrunn as relevant industry players to a national CO2 capture and storage projects.

– CO2 we have enough of, and Norcem is highly relevant. But there is still a long way to go, says David Verdú.

And he adds:

– This was a joyful message.

With the progress plan as outlined in Gassnova idéstudie will provide a basis for investment decisions for a CO2 capture project at the earliest could be presented in autumn 2018.
