My meeting with Mark, I can not really write about – ITavisen.no

Silicon Valley (ITavisen :) We visited billion honor new programming oasis.

Friday, 8 May 2015 – 7:12 p.m.

Silicon Valley (ITavisen:) We admit it first as last: We can not always read the small print in the emails ours.

Design? No, beer
Especially not when a company such as Facebook, invite to an informal press meeting in the new building in Menlo Park just outside San Francisco.

The company has in fact been Himself Frank Gehry (?) to design the new section, an occasion we obviously could not throw away to make some sense (this was not the really the reason, we also read the word “ cocktail ” in the invitation ).

Easy program
Europeans that we are, we had expected the program came to be relatively tight (it’s remarkably easy to forget that Californians prefer being at work 9:00), we were after all only be there for two hours and then be transported back home in one of fifty billion shuttle buses that run in and out of SF daily. The figure is probably slightly lower, but it feels that way.

No matter how one moves in Mission District in city core in the morning, and you see many giant buses with WiFi and air-conditioning which transports morning tired and caffeine-high American developers to Google, Apple and Facebook’s offices.

Those who will Google and Apple have to sit in the bus for a few hours (and it is expected that work, it is after all WiFi on board ), while those working for Zuckerberg get away with a 1 hour.

Not a design gem
Well inside the Facebooks new buildings we tacked name tag. We walk up a staircase covered with wood-panel located at places that are not reasonable. Design, that is.

“Are they not ready to build here, it looks like cardboard discs; moreover seems rebar and ceiling that towers 15 meters above us are not covered for.”

No, it is known as it should be nowadays. Just like code that is never finished, not buildings rather be ready, but wait for the next design change that is sure going to be done by another architect celebrity we do not know who is.

Oi but where are the Mark
We mingle and talk with a journalist from “International Business Times” that also wondering if the program is anything other than standing with a beer in his hand and talk to each other, when we notice that the whole assembly turns. Oi, where’s Mark Zuckerberg granted.

He looks exactly like the pictures, and is just the right geeky awkward when talking to larger congregations (ie 30 persons).

Zuckerberg talk a little about Sandberg family tragedy and how much money Facebook users around around the world have managed to collect for earthquake victims in Nepal. Feelgood.

We really had not expected to meet on Zuckerberg (invitation: “… Several members of the Facebook executive team” – we did not expect the boss).

It jerked violently journalist nerve
The first thing we do is obviously to put on audio recorder and snap photos with cell phone while desperately trying tweaking together smart questions in your head. Here it should be interviewed! For a bright-case this is this weekend!

At the same time we turn us around the room and notice that no one is doing the same. Is the American press so kind? But damn it: We’re in Facebook .

The man who wants us to share everything with the world speaks and no one takes pictures of him? Is it just us who are new here? Have any journalists here thousands of images of Zuckerberg from before? Maybe they do not have more pictures of the man from two feet away? They have certainly had dinner with him outside in nice weather all as one.

It turns out, of course, that it’s photo and quote-ban from the press hit.

But the garden was nice
Zuckerberg and his team meetings thus the press in its new building, but we did not take pictures of him or built, and neither quote him.

We are a meter from the man, hoping to speak with him (at this time there will be more to be said that we have done that, but to be able to tell you anything).

The conversation with an enthusiastic colleague drag far out, and we do not want to do either ourselves or Zuckerberg more uncomfortable by standing there and wait in hope of a “weather SF varies jaggu» -samtale … so we go up on the roof which is much more impressive than inside.

It’s a whole garden there, but we can not show you the pictures.
