Apple has just announced the next major update to its operating system for mobile phones and tablets, and according to Apple will iOS 10 be the biggest iOS update from the company ever.
We installed iOS 10 on an iPhone 6S to take a close look at the many news. It is too early with a full test of the operating system – this is after all only an early beta, and we have not had occasion to use iOS 10 more than a few hours. But after using the operating system for a while, we are left with a first impression.
Redesigned Lockscreen

One of the first thing we notice is that the lock screen is changed. The lock screen will also automatically appear in that you pick up the phone, a feature we know from many Android phones. On the lock screen, you have that before notifications, time and date.
From the lock screen, you can swipe right to go to the camera app. Flick left brings up the list with various widgets – small programs. There may be such as weather, upcoming calendar events, select apps, and so on.
If you get a message this that before could appear on the lock screen, assuming you have not turned it off. Pressing hard on the message, the message is opened and you can answer them. We think really this is a little strange set from a safety standpoint. This means namely that anyone can answer an SMS on your phone without having to unlock the phone with fingerprint or code. Even when we chose the contents of the message would be hidden on the lock screen, appeared content up (with the ability to respond) when we pressed hard on the message. We reckon this is an oversight by Apple, and is corrected.
New Control

Also, the control center can pull up from the bottom of the screen again.
Here you get all the usual buttons to adjust the brightness, turn on and off wiFi, turn your flashlight and so on. But now music features received a separate screen, which you can access by swiping right. This displays album art and playback buttons. No revolutionary novelty, and one might argue that music control functions are slightly less accessible when you do not have all the same image. But it looks undeniably more sharp.
Major changes in the messaging
messaging has got a real facelift since the previous version.
Are you bonding into such link to a video, you’ll get a preview of the video directly in the messaging app, and can watch the video without leaving the app. Pressing medium hard on video you will get preview in a larger window, and press a little harder will eventually video opens in the browser.
Emoji has been three times larger than before, and you’ve now got a new function to replace words in messages with emoji. For example, enter the message “Do you fancy taco for dinner” and tap emoji icon, all words that have associated emoji be highlighted. You can then click on the words with your finger to replace them with emojis. Helpful? Maybe not – but what fun is it.

In addition to the message field, there is now a small arrow. Pressing this brings out three new symbols. Camera icon lets you take pictures with your mobile camera without leaving the messaging, or insert images from the image archive. Press the heart icon will be able to make small line drawings, or you can keep your finger inside the screen to submit a vibrant symbol to imagine your heartbeat. It is also possible to shoot a video of yourself with the front camera, and tracing the video – which is then sent as a message to the recipient once you’re done.
Keeping your finger on a received message you can give visual feedback on the message, for example by giving a thumbs up or send a heart.
Do you phone sideways when you are inside the messaging you will get a large field where you can hand write messages.
Face in Photos app
Photos app on iPhone for the undersigned’s opinion been a bit messy and not very user. For why has “All photos” under the button Albums, while you have another button that says only “Photos” – that shows something completely different? In iOS 10 it does not appear that the user interface has changed much, but there have been some new features.
Firstly, there have been a feature categorizes images by which faces are on them. This is a feature that is already in place in the Photos application on your Mac. Pressing now the Albums button, there will be a special album called People, where everyone in the picture archive categorized by face. Tap a face you can give them a name, and either by typing as text or by tying the face to a contact in the contact register.

You will also see another new album called Places. Pressing this will all your photos placed on a map. This is a fairly common feature on Android phones. The function has so far been there in previous iOS versions too, but somewhat secluded and in a slightly limited version – where you get the map display when you enter photos and press a collection of images from a particular place.
The last feature we’ll mention in Photos app is Memories . This automatically creates photo galleries based on places or times,
Home app

On the home screen, it has come a new icon that leads to a new app called Home. This is an app that will be used to control various smart home products, provided that they relate to Apple HomeKit standard.
Among the products that work with HomeKit we find Philips Hue bulbs, and has a newer version of this you will be able to turn lights on and off in different rooms via the app, or by providing Siri voice commands.
Conclusion
in addition to the things we have mentioned , there are also many other news in iOS 10. for example, you could get advice on where to travel when using the maps app to navigate, and you should also be able book a restaurant table or transport directly from the app. This has not been tested.

There are also changes to the news app and the Apple Music app, and you live in countries where Apple Pay is launched you will could pay with Apple pay also when shopping in online stores via Safari.
There is nothing revolutionary in iOS 10 update, but Apple has put in place a number of features we know from Android world – and they has improved a little here and there. All in all we think Apple is on the right path, but they could perhaps done a little more to clean up the user interface, for example in Photography App and setting menus. And are all the new features in messaging a bit much? Steve Jobs liked to keep things as simple as possible – now it seems a bit like Apple is heading in a different direction under Tim Cook’s leadership, and just pour in new features without necessarily is very well thought out. By all means – many of the features are useful, but some of them might be too much of a good thing.
Please note that this is an early beta version, so very much could change before the final version rolled out sometime this fall.
iOS 10 has yet another feature many like:
