Police has recently received numerous inquiries by concerned individuals who have been called by scammers, reports TV2.
– They are trying to get people to give up social security numbers and PIN codes. That way, they empty their accounts, said operations manager Charles Bøgild in South Western Police District to TV2.
Scammers speak English and often say that they are calling from Microsoft or banks. One of the numbers they are calling from, according to police 0044706731215, but they can call from several different telephone numbers.
– The message is very simple: Neither Microsoft or a bank will call you to ask for sensitive personal information. It understands most, says Bøgild to TV2.
He notes that the police can not do something unless one has actually been cheated, and that therefore is no point in contacting them to say reporting that they have been called.
