Sámi center of Røros, established – NRK

Aajege language and resource centre to move into the new facilities, and the plan is for the other sámi subject resources also co-located in the new centre.

This has been worked with in a long time. What we hope with this development is that we will have established a sami meeting place, where the threshold is low to come by, ” says the head of Aajege Toini Bergstrøm.

the Construction of the centre and the facilitation of the sámi fagvirksomheten must also be seen in the context of a desire to expand the sámi skoletilbudet at Røros upper secondary school.

Work began in the early 70′s where the enthusiasts from the Rørossamiske the local community went in started a process to get established a reindriftssenter. At the time there were several land options, with one refusal after the other, ” says Bergstrøm.

But now, the Sør-Trøndelag county council added to the right to maintain and develop the Rørossamiske culture and fagvirksomheten at Røros upper secondary school with a new sami center. As a natural follow up of the cooperation agreement between the county and the sami Parliament will be that the Aajege switch status from the language centre to the cultural centre.

The new Røros secondary school and the sami center is to be completed in 2019.
