800 have died in air accidents with TU-154 since 2000 – Tu.en

Over 800 people have been killed in air accidents with the Russian passasjerflyet TU-154 for the last 16 years.

the death toll does not include the latest accident, where a Russian plane with 92 passengers on board crashed in the Black sea on Sunday.

Designed in the 1960s

Tremotorsflyet with space for about 150 passengers, was designed in the 1960s, and has been a workhorse of the Russian air transportation for decades.

More than a thousand machines of this type of aircraft is produced, but after a series of accidents ordered the Russian government in 2011 that flymodellen should be phased out.

In 2010 killed 96 people, among them Polish president Lech Kaczynski when it crashed during the approach to the city of Smolensk in western Russia.
