Before the FBI asked for postponement of the much talked about “FBiOS case”, appeared rumors that the agency received help from the Israeli company CelleBrite to unlock the iPhone.
How it all started: Judge orders Apple to help the FBI.
“Gray hat hacker”
neither the FBI or CelleBrite wanted to comment or method, but according to new details from the Washington Post it was not the company that helped the FBI – it was so-called gray hat hackers.
the Agency shall have paid a group of data hackers one lump sum to locate a “zero-day” vulnerabilities. This should have been used to create a type of hardware that would help them to unlock the iPhone 5c an accompanying the deceased terrorist Syed Farook.
Washington Post did not identify the group, but reviewing individuals researchers. At least one of them should be a “gray hat” Hand-Hack, according to the newspaper.
