These are differences.
Yesterday, Apple released an updated MacBook including faster processor and better battery life. 9to5Mac has undergone specifications in last year’s and this year’s model and made a comparison.
Processor
The biggest difference on 2015- and 2016-model must be regarded as the processor. Last year’s model came with a low-power Intel Core M processor, whereas this year’s model has an Intel Skylake Core M processor.
CPUs use as much / little power, meaning that the increased performance will not at the expense of battery life.
2015 models:
- 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, Turbo Boost to 2.4GHz
- 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, Turbo Boost to 2.6GHz
- 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, Turbo Boost 2.9 GHz
2016 models:
- 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 Skylake processor, Turbo Boost to 2.2GHz
- 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core m5 Skylake processor, Turbo Boost to 2.7GHz
- 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core m7 Skylake processor, Turbo Boost to 3 , 1 GHz
GPU
the integrated Intel graphics card is also a newer version. 2015 model had an HD 5300 GPU with a frequency between 800 and 900 MHz. The new harness is an HD 515 with a frequency of 1000 MHz.
Apple claims that this year’s GPU is 25 percent faster, Intel believes it is 41 per cent faster.
Battery
Apple promises an additional hour of battery life in this year’s model arguing that it manages 10 hours of web browsing.
the battery 2015 edition was 39.7 watt hours, while in the new MacBook sits a battteri 41.4 watt hours.
RAM
this year’s model is limited to 8 GB of memory. Dog sits a LPDDR3 chip on 1866 MHz. Last year LPDDR3 chip was clocked at 1600MHz.
SSD
Finally we SSD that, we wrote about yesterday, has received a significant performance upgrade. Blackmagic Disk tests show that this year’s model is 80-90 percent faster than last year.
