one of the definitions of sharing economy is platform systems that allow individuals make use of unused resources by sharing / selling them.
A resource can be anything from time and knowledge to a bed or a drill.
the term captures still not up the distinction between commercial and non-profit motivated services. This distinction can be exemplified in the difference between an app that lets people run with each other to work, and Uber, which is a commercial taxi-like service.
One can alternatively talk about a mediation economy and a sharing economy, where the first term is broader, while sharing economy only embraces what is actually sharing and not rent or sale.
