Apple needs with over five billion by patentdom – ITavisen.no

Should have used the VPN patents in FaceTime and iMessage.

Just over one week ago we published the case on VirnetX, a company working to enforce intellectual patents, which had sued Apple.

Now the jury in East Texas Federal District Court found Apple guilty for infringement of patents, a decision which was unanimous, and the sum has now increased to $ 625 million, around 5.3 billion.

Apple should have used the company’s patents in the inquiry-based VPN service, FaceTime and iMessage. 9to5Mac writes that courts in East Texas is known for taking side with patent owners in patent-related lawsuits.

They should not have commented on the verdict, but there are indications that they plan to appeal.

From 2012
In the original trial from 2012, meant VirnetX that Apple had used four of their patents in video chat service FaceTime, which is installed on both Macs, iPhone and iPad

Apple argued in turn that if they had come to harm to use VirnetX its patents, so it was only “a small part of very large, complex products,” which Apple attorney Danny Williams put it.
