(Dinside.no :): Microsoft app universe was introduced with Windows 8. The time they were called Metro Apps, later Modern UI apps, and now simply Windows apps.
The apps differ from regular Windows programs in several ways.
Firstly, they have a common design vocabulary, with guidelines for the use of fonts and colors.
For the second scales the much better to different screen resolutions, and can also be used just as easily with finger touch as mouse use.
Windows 10 comes with a host of new standard apps, including Camera, Calendar, Groove Music, E-mail and Map. Apps you install from the Windows Store, you can easily uninstall by right-clicking on the icons, but this does not apply to these standard apps.
Requires own methods
It is possible to uninstall them, if you for various reasons wish. The easiest method is to use a third party tool, such as the free Windows 10 App Remover.
A total of 23 applications can be uninstalled in this way. Note that all later can be installed from Windows Store, should you regret you.
Edge browser and Cortana is however so closely linked to the basic functionality of the operating system, that they for that reason not be uninstalled.
Ironically, Windows Store app itself is uninstalled, which can for natural reasons not to do. Yet you should be unfortunate enough to do it, you can run the Windows PowerShell as an administrator (right-click the program icon), and paste the following command:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode-register “$ ($ _.InstallLocation) AppXManifest.xml”}
This will install all the standard apps again.
Does not cost anything
You can download it from this page (as of this writing is WXAR_1.2.exe latest version of the program, which for the sake of clarity are examined for nasties).
