Here steals the a Tesla by exploiting vulnerabilities in the Android – ITavisen.en

do not Need high technical expertise, claims the Norwegian IT-company.

Norwegian hackers show how they can locate, unlock and drive off with a Tesla.

More technology, more vulnerable
Tesla is one of the leading automakers on the technological area. Technology can be a huge advantage for bileierne, but can also make the cars vulnerable to hackers. An example of this you can see in the video clip below.

“Our security researchers have through our own tests managed to exploit a sikkerhetsmangel in Tesla’s own mobile app. The tests we have conducted show that people with evil intent and without high technical expertise, to easily take control of a Tesla, to a point where they can track and locate, unlock and steal the car unobstructed”, writes Lars Lunde Birkeland in the Norwegian Promon in an e-mail to ITavisen.

“Our test is the first to use Tesla’s mobile app as a gateway to the actual car, and goes a step further by showing that an app that is not optimally secured can lead to serious consequences.”

does not Apply specifically Tesla
Tesla Norway tells to the Broom that they take the findings to intelligence, but that the vulnerabilities that are identified in the video is not specifically for Tesla.

This video shows no vulnerabilities that apply to the Tesla in particular. The demonstration shows something most people realize on their own: If a phone is hacked, it is not certain that the apps are safe, ” says communications director, Even Sandvold Roland.

In the video, scientists use techniques of social engineering to trick victims into installing malicious software on Android devices.

– This exposes the entire phone and all apps for risk, including the Tesla app. We recommend all to keep your phone updated with the latest version of the mobile operating system you are using. We have never received notification that someone has stolen a Tesla through a compromised app, ” says Sandvold Roland to the Broom.
