Award-winning packaging gives the salmon longer leveitd – FiskeribladetFiskaren

on Thursday, Vartdal Plast awarded Optimeringsprisen 2015 for the product, type Nofima.

the Award was handed out on the Emballasjedagene in Sandefjord and can contribute to an international breakthrough for the innovative product.

In the jury’s justification reads: Vartdal Plastic has made an impressive effort in creating a completely new product that can reduce packaging volumes by up to 50 percent. At the same time, they have developed a corresponding package that increases the life of the product by up to 40 per cent.

anti-bacterial
Through the product Superfresh has Vartdal Plastic started what hopefully will become a trend when it comes to ferskpakking of fish, meat and chicken in konsumentforpakninger.

in Short, based Superfresh on an absorber that is like a cushion that is located in konsumentforpakningen. In technical jargon it’s called a CO2-emitter, which develops anti-bacterial CO2. This is tailored to both the type of food and to the weight of the food. Salmon can, for example, keep fresh for 20 days with SuperFresh, against the 14 days normally.

Superfresh is developed over several years of Vartdal Plastic in close cooperation with Nofima. The award of the Optimeringsprisen to the Superfresh on Emballasjedagene is a confirmation that the Nofimas research improves the quality of the food.

– We have faith in a big breakthrough in Europe in the course of the coming half of the year, ” says product manager Mounir El'Mourabit.

We have a customer in New Zealand that have adopted the SuperFresh on lysing (Merluccius merluccius). The first testing period with the product in the stores is underway and we have the expectation of major orders towards the end of 2016/beginning of 2017, ” says product manager Mounir El'Mourabit.

Longer hylletid will provide major environmental and economic impact.

The western world throws food equivalent to three times the need to the entire world’s population. Superfresh will thus be a small, but important, contribution to the reduced matsvinn.
