In late March we tested Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, which is one of the two to three best phones you can buy right now.

It has a somewhat startling design with screen that curves toward the sides of phone.

It is nice, but we have not come across any situations where we feel that the edge of the screen is something to be or not to be.

Besides costing this screen you about 1,200 pounds, compared with a normal Galaxy S6.

Design

In terms of design Galaxy S6 quite similar Edge variant. It is a thought longer and wider. Edge edition’s design gives it the illusion of being thinner, so side by side watching the flat variant slightly thicker.

Display

The two phone has both 5.1 inch screens with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. Beyond the obvious difference between the two screens, they are as far as we can determine identical.

There is nothing in the world to pick on here. It had to be the case that the screen resolution is unnecessarily high. With 576 PPI is the limit for the nuances of your eyes can perceive long passed.

One might think that the screen that bends towards the sides on the Edge variant would lead to more unintended touches, since one often naturally will touch screen when you hold the phone. Samsung has obviously had this in mind, we did not experience this as a problem on the phone.

Hardware and basic functions

We could have been tempted to say something like that this is the best performance we’ve ever measured. However, we know that manufacturers are not alien to adjust performance to provide the best possible result in popular tests like this.

There is no doubt whatever that the Galaxy S6 is a vigorous telephone. We guess the difference in performance of the S6 and S6 Edge boils down to factors that are beyond our control. The two phones have after all the same hardware.

One difference we have nevertheless noted: Galaxy S6 perceived not as warm as S6 Edge under load.

When it comes to specs are the same as the list on the Edge edition. So there is ingesting missing here, unless you have a need for Memory Cards and replaceable battery.

S6 comes with 32, 64 and 128 GB internal memory.

It is worth mentioning that the same good fingerprint reader used in both phones. So will a touch, as on the iPhone.

When it comes to basic functions, ie speech, antenna performance and battery life, we note no major differences. For example, signal reception equivalent on both phones at the same time, and battery performance test gives us approximately the same result.

Same user

The software on the two variants is the same, which means that the user experience is exactly like, with a small exception.

On the surface variant you will not night clock on the side of the screen, and the phone will not light up the sides when you get calls or alerts from a selection of contacts. You can not see alerts and such without turning on the screen.

Conclusion

Clean objectively it is thus not any major differences between the two phones. Then it subjective everything boils down to.

The undersigned prefer the design of the common variant, but it becomes a matter of taste.

While one must keep in S6 Edge with a little special grip , recognized the regular S6 variant any other phone.

In some situations, especially in strong outdoor lighting can the bent screen on S6 Edge give something glare along the sides so that it feels like not properly see the whole screen. There we did not experience the S6.

Some say it is much like the iPhone 6, but we’re not quite agree that claim. We think it looks more smartphones in general.

It all becomes a matter of what you are willing to pay. Galaxy S6 is basically an expensive phone. Are you having Edge version you must add at about 1200 dollars.
