When Microsoft showed off the new products on Wednesday, it was mainly one product it was set large expectations to: The new all-in-one.
We are at the place on the Microsoft lanseringstilstelning, and has already been put your fingers on the nykomlingen. And there is only one thing to say: It is sharp.
the Comparison with Apple’s iMac is not going to get away, but to the difference from the eplemaskinen, Microsoft has chosen to add the hardware in a separate box below the screen, making the screen itself is extra thin – in fact the world’s thinnest LCD panel, according to the manufacturer.

Seamless hinge
The continuously variable kromhengslene also makes sure that the screen emits an illusion of almost floating in front of you. All-in-one is in and of itself is not something new concept, and the Dell XPS 27 has been possible to use in “landscape” mode for many years, but Land Studio goes deeper and offers far more ergonomic use than the previous attempts.

We got demonstrated how architects, engineers, designers, and other groups that like to work with graphic documents can collaborate in the Studio – for example, by drawing directly on the floor plans in full size. The new Surface Dial wheel also provides opportunities to work with both hands on the screen at the same time, where the hand on the wheel controls the color palettes, the brush size and other features while pennehånden draw, write or paint.
the Pen works much as it has done on the other Surface of the products previously: the Rendering on screen is not immediate, but it is so close that it is something that is possible to get used to, and so that it feels as though you are actually drawing. The pen can also be attached magnetically on both the short sides, so that you always have it readily available.

Surface Dial works for all machines
The Dial-wheel is quite heavy, is good in the hand and has a pleasant haptic feedback, which makes it easy to navigate accurately between the various features or colors. New Windows, of course, has also been given a separate menu where you can configure the Dial to work the way you want to, but it is only on the Studio that it has its own features when you put it on the screen. It is otherwise compatible with all other machines with Windows 10, but without the Studio-exclusive features.
A minus with the large Studio monitor is that the panel is extremely glossy and reflective, something we clearly saw when we tried to take pictures of it. Here is the reflections in all directions. but it helps of course that the screen can be bent so that it is at least possible problem.
In the very bright demolokalet, it was difficult to judge exactly, but our impression was that Studio the panel is of very good quality. The resolution is on the spinnville 4500×3000, so this is a good piece of over 4K, but still, that’s a bit fewer pixels than what Apple have pushed in on their top iMac, which has a 5120×2880.
Otherwise it is our impression that the screen to the Surface Studio has a very deep black and very vibrant colors.

The base unit is built in the Apple-like matt grey aluminium, but unlike the iMac, the fixed power cable. Otherwise, it is a little sparse with ports to take off: Four USB ports (standard A-type, so Microsoft has obviously not wanted to help Apple with their transition to the USB type-C), ethernet port, DisplayPort, memory card reader for SD card and headphone jack. All the outputs for the other sitting on the back, something we see for ourselves can be a bit annoying in use.
Ytelsesmessig there should be little to take Land Studio, even if it is still sjettegenerasjons Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. It is also the only place to graphics chips usually reserved for laptops, but as it has been on all all-in-one machines we’ve seen so far – also iMac. Here you get the Geforce GTX 965 M or 980 M, and otherwise up to 32 GB RAM and 2 TB hybridlagring.
For the spillglade it also features support for wireless Xbox controllers built in. The machine is supplied of course with keyboard and mouse, and they have been given the not very surprising names Surface Keyboard and Surface Mouse.
It is very minimalist and uspektakulære stuff in grey plastic with what looks like very standard movement in the keys and without any form of extras. The keyboard is however also in a “Ergonomic”edition with the curved shape and the built-in palm rest.
Costly pleasure
If you would want on a Surface Studio, you must be prepared to scroll up. The machine starts at 2999 dollars, thus representing over 24000 dollars if we estimate without mark-up. The award is based may up during the focus on professional users, but if we for example compare with a Mac Pro it might not be a deterrent. The comparison is however not entirely fair, since they have two completely different audiences.
We have not heard anything about availability in the Uk yet, but Microsoft has at least not posted any info about the machine on their Norwegian pages, so we would perhaps not held their breath.
