When Microsoft showed off the new products on Wednesday, it was mainly one product it was set large expectations to: The new all-in-one.

Surface Dial works for all machines
The Dial-wheel is quite heavy, is good in the hand and has a pleasant haptic feedback, which makes it easy to navigate accurately between the various features or colors. New Windows, of course, has also been given a separate menu where you can configure the Dial to work the way you want to, but it is only on the Studio that it has its own features when you put it on the screen. It is otherwise compatible with all other machines with Windows 10, but without the Studio-exclusive features.
A minus with the large Studio monitor is that the panel is extremely glossy and reflective, something we clearly saw when we tried to take pictures of it. Here is the reflections in all directions. but it helps of course that the screen can be bent so that it is at least possible problem.
In the very bright demolokalet, it was difficult to judge exactly, but our impression was that Studio the panel is of very good quality. The resolution is on the spinnville 4500×3000, so this is a good piece of over 4K, but still, that’s a bit fewer pixels than what Apple have pushed in on their top iMac, which has a 5120×2880.
Otherwise it is our impression that the screen to the Surface Studio has a very deep black and very vibrant colors.

The base unit is built in the Apple-like matt grey aluminium, but unlike the iMac, the fixed power cable. It is very minimalist and uspektakulære stuff in grey plastic with what looks like very standard movement in the keys and without any form of extras. The keyboard is however also in a “Ergonomic”edition with the curved shape and the built-in palm rest.

Costly pleasure
If you would want on a Surface Studio, you must be prepared to scroll up. The machine starts at 2999 dollars, thus representing over 24000 dollars if we estimate without mark-up. The award is based may up during the focus on professional users, but if we for example compare with a Mac Pro it might not be a deterrent. The comparison is however not entirely fair, since they have two completely different audiences.
We have not heard anything about availability in the Uk yet, but Microsoft has at least not posted any info about the machine on their Norwegian pages, so we would perhaps not held their breath.
San Francisco (ITavisen:) How shall we manage to defend a purchase like this?
San Francisco (ITavisen:) We took a trip to stop by the Microsoft Store in San Francisco to take a closer look at Microsoft’s most intriguing product in years.
It costs to great Surface Studio is an expensive machine. The product comes not in the hands of customers before 31. march, and Norway is hardly in the plans (nor the Surface keyboards, and mouse).
It is aimed at graphic artists, artists and subscribers – however we are unable to be other than excited.
This is really not a machine for us. We write and surf the web, we draw never. There is a reason to it: it can hardly shape the strekmenn.
You can see on the Surface the Studio as a sharp all-in-one computer with a touch screen you probably hadn’t used enough to justify startprisen on the 2999 dollars. It costs after all to equip a 4.5 K screen with multi-touch.
But for blacks, this is fun and inspirational! But forget it. Forget to be smart with money for a little while and play with the idea of having this at home.
It was what we did when we tried the machine with the Surface of Dial, the new Surface-the mouse and the corresponding keyboard (the flat, not “Ergonomic”).
Let us take to us the design first, now that we’ve seen it “up close”.
Designspråket signals well that this is a Surface product. Especially the back is easily recognizable from those of you that have tested or own a Surface Pro.
When using the machine upright, which was our only opportunity during the demo, you can see only the screen. The machine itself, the little box under the 28-inch big screen, adding it is not noticed – it is rather not the point and was thoroughly explained by Microsoft, in yesterday’s press conference.
As Microsoft pointed out during the press conference in point with Surface Studio that the creative should be able to lose oneself in all the 4500 x 3000 pixels the display delivers. One should not be able to see the daughter at all, it is also not easy, but gjennskinn it’s a number of, in each case in the shop to Microsoft.

It is exciting this with analog switches that manipulate touch screens, something berøringsbord have done in the past. There is a reason for it: because the screen is so large is arm movements in the largest made to scroll and browse web pages.

But what happens after the Studio…? When we thought for many years that the giant Surface Hub should never shrink down to a kind of hvermannsenmaskin (minus the price), we took the error. Microsoft has quietly had this in mind for several years. Now, they have finally taken the step because Satya Nadella has dared to bet on the Surface team.
And we wonder whether or not this is a “showcase product” to get people to listen for the Surface brand. When people listen enough to what Surface-gang driver, so it will be perhaps smaller form factors eventually – perhaps with a… Surface Phone?
PS: We had thought to take a look at the new MacBook Pro also, but in Apple’s flagship store in the city centre, we got the information that the machines are not in the shop before they are sent to customers about 2 to 3 weeks. the Apple, then.
Yet it was Apple store full, while shopping mall store of Microsoft was almost empty, and with two Surface Studio to test.
