World gets its first mobile phone that can receive digital radio signals transmitted via the DAB network.
This happens shortly before Norway from New Year by being the first country in the world that goes the analogue FM network . At this time, there will probably still be many who do not have a radio in your car, boat house or cottage.
Major countries are discussing FM fighters

that is exactly why Gunnar Garfors, NRK adviser and president of the international digital radio group TODAY, glad that they have managed to get mobile manufacturer LG to implement DAB standard in one of their latest mobiles.
that it has taken seven years to get this in place, explains Garfors that Norway is too small a country to put enough pressure on handset manufacturers .
– But there is now momentum in other major countries such as Germany, UK, Australia and the Netherlands, where one also is in the process of discussing quench dates, says Garfors who believe more mobile models with built-in DAB already this year.
– it is quite the same as seen with integrated GPS, compass and camera. It will force his way as a function of people requires getting a new cell phone, he predicts.
– Interesting addition

Odd Richard Valmot is Technical editor for technology website TU.no, and has been testing the new phone before launch.
He believes DAB mobile is an interesting news for mobile users who are fond of listening to the radio.
– All mobile phones can be used all that pouring radio, but you often fracture when moving between 3G and 4G areas. My expectation is that DAB streaming provides far fewer violations, since a DAB transmitter has far greater reach, says Valmot.
He also points out that radio listening uses significantly less power than streaming Internet radio, and that the service is free and does not use data quota or bandwidth available where you are.
– are there really many flowing radio and TV, eat a lot of capacity in the area. Cellular is a shared service, as opposed to broadcasting, where an infinite number of devices can receive the same signal.
Valmot doubt that DAB function will be decisive for many customers, but still believes it’s an interesting addition .
– Norway is the only country that has said it will turn off FM, so here we need an alternative. If it gets DAB or streaming, will Time will show. I think most will choose streaming, but it does not mean that the market for such phones are not quite large.
