Speaking
Apple has responded to the issue with the following statement:

“From the beginning, we were strongly opposed to the FBI’s requirement to build a backdoor into the iPhone as we felt that it would put a dangerous precedent. As a result of the government drops the case, this did not happen. This case should never have been made.

We will continue to help the police in their investigation, which we always have done, and we will continue to improve the safety of our products as threats and attacks against our data becomes more sophisticated and more frequent.

Apple feel strongly that people in the United States and around the world deserve data protection, security and privacy. Giving up one thing for another allows people and countries become more vulnerable.

This case raised some questions which we need to discuss our freedoms, security and privacy on a national level. Apple remains committed to share in this discussion. “

Apple plug the hole FBI have used, there may be a new roundel if this case turns up again – something that is going to do with security.
