Steinar Beaked memory – Trønder-Avisa

Steinar Cuts (60) passed away on Monday night, after a long illness. Thus experienced HiNT last rector barely seeing that the college became part of North University.

Beak came School in Nord-Trondelag (HiNT) in 2001 Lecturer in organization and management. In 2011 he became historic when he became the first rector added HiNT. Until then, one became headmaster of HiNT through choice.

Steinar Beak came originally from Fosen but stayed for much of his life in Innherred – where he both worked in the private sector and in academia.

He started his career as a teacher at the time newly Freya high school, before moving to Levanger. For several years he was vice president at Fokus Bank in Levanger – and he was a period also Chairman Aasen savings bank.

Beak had majored in Education and later took a Master in Management at BI.

beak big project would be to merge HiNT into education institution from New Year’s Northern University. Opposition was significant – both internal and external, not least because many thought it was wrong that an educational institution in Trøndelag were having attention directed towards Bodø. Even were Beaked convinced that cooperation northward was right – and he got the majority of the board with his assessment.

While the battle about HiNT was at its most intense, he fought one private battle against cancer. Long had he and his immediate hopes that the disease could be overcome, but towards the end of last year he became increasingly worse.

Steinar Cuts showed as a visionary and strong-willed leader – both in the business community and the college. The merger into the new university would hardly have been possible without his strategic abilities.

The principal – who after merger was intended for a role as a pro-rector in charge of ensuring a good process when the three previous institutions were merged – loved his job and spent long hours in the office than normal working week implies. Something leisure he found still time, and then he ended happily at the piano. He was, according to good friends a more than competent pianist – and took great pleasure in playing to the end.

Cuts leaves three adult children, three grandchildren, wife and mother, which now must move on after his untimely demise. Although he’s no longer with us, he put clear signs – which leads into the year that lies ahead.

rest in peace his memory.
