Samsung starts mass production of super memory – ITavisen.no

Should be seven steeds faster than current DRAM.

Now, Samsung is in full swing to produce HBM2 (high bandwidth memory) DRAM chips.

Super Fast
South Koreans argue that the new technology should be up to seven times faster than current DRAM chips and can provide full 256 GBps in bandwidth. It is twice HBM1 used in including AMD R9 Nano and R9 Fury X.

The advantage of HBM2, and remaining blazing is that it is so small as NVIDIA and AMD can accommodate more VRAM in future graphics cards, writes Neowin.

AMD betting
Initially produced HBM2 chips 4GB packages using 1:20 nanometer process technology, but Samsung is going to launch 8GB HBM2 later this year.

AMD plans to launch multiple video cards with HBM2 technology during the year and introduced graphics platform “Polaris” as late as yesterday.
