The trick that gives you Google’s face immediately – Dagbladet.no

Dinside.no: The other day we wrote about Google’s new image service, where we especially were impressed by how Google automatically managed to categorize the images in relation to what had taken pictures of.

Also face recognition was mentioned even if it is not available in Norway yet. It allows Google automatically classifies images based on who is in them, so you can click on a face and see all the photos where your face is with.

But a little trick is actually all it takes to activate the “People”, also in the Norwegian version of the service.

So well it works

After performing the trick we have now received facial feature, and it is simply very impressive.

At the top right you see for example, three pictures of the family’s youngest member (6), with photos dating all the way back to 2010, when she was only one year old, where Google has automatically identified her.

We expect not to be alone that this is very impressive – even pictures taken from since being correctly identified.

So – to the tip.

How to face the

It actually comes from DinSide reader Erik, who posted trick in the comments under the said article. The trick applies to Android phones, but we will not be surprised if similar work elsewhere as well.

  1. • Download a VPN app, for example Tunnel Bear, as we have previously written about.

  2. • Use VPN app against a server in the United States – which in practice route all traffic from your phone via a US server, and thus will appear as an American for Web services can exchange data with.

  3. • Delete data associated photo app. You do this by going to the settings, apps , scroll to the Photos app and tap “clear data” button. For the sake of this will not erase your saved pictures in the photo service.

  4. • Open images app, tap your way through the welcome screens and select settings . Here’s now a choice to activate face detection.

  5. • Afterwards fine disconnect VPN service (and uninstall it if you want). Now you’ve got “People” in the app if you click on the search button.

Obviously done already

This was in place with a time when we had followed the recipe over so it is clear that Google has indexed images based on faces even if one can not access the feature.

So the question is then:

Were you equally impressed function like us?
