We heard rumors that Google Photos does the smart thing for us in the cloud. Really? The we have heard before.

But maybe that right this time? Yes, and not only that: Photos do things behind the scenes no other cloud services have managed just as well in the past.

Astonishing good service
We have loomed in an article like this since our first photo uploads to Google’s new image service, but chose to wait with this test we had uploaded 17GB of images (a process we several years basically not looking forward to perform) from Windows, Mac and iPhone, new and old, to Google’s magical service.

The thing about Google Photos is that the stock mini-stories of the thousands of photos you have lying unsorted but in a way that is as seamless and elegant that absolutely everybody gets it.

Google knows, of course, thanks to the metadata stored in the pictures with the time and date, when they are snapped – several have done the same long, but the result is not as good as Google’s.

A negative remark before we proceed: Loading up images from multiple folders, we recommend to take one and a folder to photos.google.com instead of software. The latter discovered not all our pictures.

A completely new life pictures you had forgotten
What amazes us is how many photograms that were made automatically for us – photos of trips and visits we had not sorted becomes of Google analyzed for you, and given new life.

Do the multiple images taken at the same time, it creates a collage. Have you taken many pictures in recent years, these small stories make you laugh and reminisce and that no other services we tested.

Another great little feature is the small GIF animations service composes. You no longer be irritated that you took 20 poor photos in a row: Google composes a fun little animation of them.

Google Photos recognizes and even pictures that could be candidates for a panoramic image. This also works shockingly well. You get the “how-did-they-this-feeling.”

It only works
Both these functions live in the background, working for you when you upload new photos on iOS as well as Android.

You upload images which are then analyzed by Google. When Google’s servers have finished chewing select which picture stories (video also incorporated in the stories) you want to store for good.

Your personal AI is finally online
We’ve talked about the cloud for years, but this is the first service which for us made us feel that the web and man is brought closer together without the human aspect of it drowning in bad technical solutions or a complex user interface.

There are services that this is the very reason why we take our mobiles all the time; It is not because we are trapped, anti-social techno idiots – it’s because we want to demonstrate our whole life, people and places.

Google Photos makes this possible without having to spend months combing bildebiblioket. The company is in an excellent position to dominate this field for sky-AI with its giant data servers included on almost everything we are looking for online.
