Now Apple Music launched in Norway – ITavisen.no

Last ned iOS 8.4 og nye OS X.

Tirsdag, 30. juni 2015 – 16:56

På Apples norske Music-nettsiden står det at tjenesten lanseres «snart».

Oppdatert: 17:40:

Slik velger man norsk Apple Music. Sammensurium

Oppdatert; 17:33:

Re/Code oppsummerer:

Scientists have solved the problem that has plagued them for years – ITavisen.no

Important breakthroughs for optical fiber.

Tuesday, 30 June 2015 – 8:03

Researchers at the University of California at San Diego has managed to burst limit to how far information transmitted in fiber cables, without it being destroyed or lost on the road. The distance they managed to achieve was 12,000 km.

20 times the signal strength
In practice, this can lead to faster and more stable internet with longer fiber cables – the printer university itself in a press release.

They managed to blow up the border by increasing the maximum intensity of the optical signal by almost 20 times compared to baseline. This made it possible to transmit the signal much farther than before.

The results are published in the heavy journal Science.

– As quicksand
The whole thing is important because just this has been a problem for optical fiber in a long time: The greater the speed becomes, the greater the chance that information not emerged unscathed from the receiver.

Researchers sammenigner it with quicksand.

“With quicksand is it that the more you argue, the faster you sink. So it is with optical fiber. The more power you give the signal, the more interference you get. In practice, this prevents transmission over longer distances. Our approach removes this limit, which extends the distance of how far the signal can travel in optical fiber without the need for a repeater (regenerator), “ explain the researchers.

Predicts interference
So called regenerators are electronic gadgets which amplifies the signal. These are expensive. That they are not needed with the new method enables therefore cheaper infrastructures.

The breakthrough comes from something called “frequency combs” which makes it possible to predict signal degradation on the road. Using this information, the data can be restored to their original condition.

It takes enough for a while before the technology being used, but this shows that talented scientists and engineers are constantly seeking new solutions to existing problems.

Facebook’s new bildetriks – Glomdalen

Are they imitate snapchat?

Facebook published a new version of its iOS app this weekend, without explanation as to what was actually new. Now it turns out that one of the news is that the app has received an expanded image editor.

According to The Verge, it looks like they have drawn inspiration from snapchat – service which Facebook reportedly tried to buy 18.5 billion in 2013.

The next time you post a photo on Facebook, you will discover an animated icon in the top left corner. Press here, you will get another row with different filters, tag button, trimming function, text and labels. Several labels can be downloaded from Facebooks’ Label shop. “

The Verge reports that the Android users will probably get the same editing features as iPhone users soon.

The new image features have not been rolled out for Facebook Messenger just yet. Perhaps the reason is that Facebook launched its own label app called stickered last year.

Are you starting to get tired nonsense and bustle on Facebook?

How to protect your mobile phone – Future in North

Telenor believes the time has come to secure your phone and your tablet better and launches a security service for mobile.

New technology provides new opportunities for criminals. Tablets and smartphones used today for everything that was previously reserved for computers.

We surf, update social media, store documents and pay for goods and services. The amount of information we store in mobiles and tablets, can make them coveted target for intruders.

– The threats on the Internet has become much more complex and some players are more sophisticated than they were a few years ago. The former boy dashes has evolved into a cyber arena where criminals including chasing money and driver ID and information theft. Organised criminals pretending to be your bank or other you normally trust to get you to disclose sensitive information, says Bjørn Ivar Moen, head of mobile operations in Telenor Norway.

Launching on Android

Some people are using mobile phones or tablet computers at work, without using antivirus. It makes mobile phones and tablet to a potential switch.

– Getting mobile phone taken over by criminals, among other things, lead to the loss of personal and corporate sensitive information. One danger we have so far been spared in Norway, but as we see in other countries, someone could be able to send out expensive SMS messages to payment services they earn money, says Moen.

Telenor is launching a security service that is integrated with My Telenor app.

The State Security runs in the background of your phone at all times and provides better protection against both viruses and infected websites.

– Currently we are launching the service for private customers with smartphones that have Android operating system, such as Samsung, Sony and HTC, says Moen.

Six tips for better security

1 . Use screen lock: It is important that you use some sort of screen lock to unlock the phone. Pin-code you must enter to use the SIM card when you turn on your phone, no one stops from getting access to everything you have stored on the phone when the phone is turned on. Use a screen lock password, fingerprint or other phone locking devices as well. The main thing is that no one can access directly on your phone if you lose it or have it stolen.

2. Be critical of what you install: It’s smart to be a bit wary of what apps you download, especially if you use an Android phone. In contrast to Apple’s App Store, where everything is controlled manually before putting it out, checked apps posted on Google Play only via electronic tests. This allows the infected apps easier slip through security checkpoints. About downloading apps that have good reviews and many users there may be an indication that the application is safe, but you’ll still need to think through both privacy and security. But one is not sure – or want to try new apps that nobody else has tried, reviewed or commented on, or downloading apps from sites other than Google Play, make sure you have a security solution installed in advance, for example security to My Telenor.

3. Keep everything updated: Always download new updates for your phone, both the operating system and the applications you have installed. This can provide new and nice features, but first and foremost it is important as such updates gladly seal any security holes.

4. Make copies: A growing number of stores his life on a phone, including pictures, contacts, documents and more personal and great value. Therefore, it is smart to synchronize this to a safe cloud, such as My Sky, which provides safe and easy storage of images, and My Contacts, which provides safe and easy storage of your contacts.

5. Use good, strong passwords: Use a strong password with some length. It should include at least ten characters, but you must be happy to put together some arbitrary word after another. It is easier to remember than you think. Also be sure to use different passwords for different online services – and two-step verification which it supported.

6. Stop: Be wary if you are asked to perform or install anything you have not even asked for. Where physical browsing, can also offer a potential risk. About browsing on an open network and sends such bank info over an unencrypted connection, this could in theory be intercepted by unknown. Do you use an encrypted service on websites, there is less risk of unauthorized see what you are doing.

Kjos threatening the government with litigation – Aftenposten

– Samsung deaktiverer Windows Update – digi.no

One of the major changes that have occurred for security in Windows over the last decade, is that Windows Update can not just install security updates automatically, but that this is enabled by default on new PCs.

It even allows PCs to users who do not think of safety, kept up to date.

See also: Samsung rolls out security for smartphones

Samsung

With this background, Patrick Barker, an independent Windows specialist, made a rather startling discovery, namely that Samsung turn off the automatic installation of updates on many of the company’s Windows based PCs.

In practice, users are exposed to a big security risk.

It is Samsung SW Update software that is the culprit, according to Barker. This is a program that, among other things makes it easier to update drivers that are specific to that particular computer.

But the software also includes a component that Disable_Windowsupdate.exe. This ensures that the automatic installation of updates in Windows Update is turned off.

If the user attempts to activate the automatic system, the re-activated after a reboot of the system.

It is this choice Samsung overrides. Illustration: digi.no

Did you read this? Millions of Samsung mobiles have vulnerable keyboard

Driver problem

Samsung confirms faced both Barker and The Register. A company representative explains that the whole thing is done this way because Windows Update installs default drivers for all the hardware, apparently despite the fact that more specialized drivers already installed.

This leads according to Samsung that hardware USB 3.0 ports stop working, which is probably quite correct. But the company fix for this is very risky. Instead the company should have found a solution in cooperation with Microsoft, for example by offering its special hardware drivers via Windows Update.

Samsung have come up with further a further statement to The Register, which emphasized that the company takes product safety very seriously while the company believes it is doing a great thing by forcing users to choose which Windows updates to install.

– It is not true that we block a Windows 8.1 operating system update on our computers. As part of our commitment to customer satisfaction, we offer our customers the option to choose if and when they want to install Windows software on their products.

Barker writes in an update that he does not understand what this statement means, for he has not claimed that Samsung software specifically blocks a Windows 8.1 operating system update, only that it prevents Windows Update to automatically install updates.

In Norway: Samsung put down PC sales

Not advisable

For The Register says a representative for Microsoft that the company recommends that Windows Update is turned off or modified in such a way that it exposes the customer for increased safety. The representative promises that Microsoft will contact Samsung regarding this matter.

Until then’d Samsung SW Update uninstalled.

Commenting on the case ask Barker rhetorically if not PC makers have learned something of Superfish, a plug which until ours came with many Lenovo PCs and who also vulnerable clients at great risk.

Background: Lenovo delivered many PCs with serious malware
