We did look at Asus’ biggest challenger to Apple Macbook – Tek.no

Tek.no/ Taipei: Computex trade show in Taiwan does not begin officially until tomorrow, but the circus has come around all right in time. This is especially true for computer and gadget manufacturer Asus, who for some years now almost had a monopoly on the journalists the day before the day.

For anyone expecting something juicy from Asus when CEO Jonney Shih in tradition faith takes to the stage in conjunction with Computex.

Unfortunately, this also led to the press and groupieoppbudet has reached comical proportions. This year we were lucky enough to have at least one journalist with a little ground clearance available, so we got some pictures of the show. Tek.nos second conscripted worker got nicely settle for a place in the stairs, and write these words while Circus Asus progress.

But the big news is of course the reason why people like Asus basically: products. And on Asus’ press conference today we got then also seen something new and fun.

Among all the major and minor news, there was still some portable tidbits that we really bet us note in.

Zenbook 3

Asus’ new Zenbook locks undoubtedly into the same market as the Apple MacBook and MacBook Air. With a weight of 910 grams and thickness of 11.9 millimeters, we are talking not just about something that weighs the bag too much, and, after Tafsas bit on this, we could immediately conclude that it has a keyboard that is far more comfortable than what we find on the Apple MacBook.

Asus has also copied Apple’s choice to only give your computer a single USB port, then the new type-C, which will also act as charging connector.

Inside you have the choice between an energy-Efficient Core i5 or i7 processor, up to 16 GB memory and a PCIe SSD on one terabyte if you have both bright and advice.

the screen of 12.5 inches have the hottest solution we’ve seen, but Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) of this size believe we should be more than good enough even for the more discerning of us.

They will naturally be dependent on the configuration, where the start of one thousand dollars and ending at twice.

Transformer 3 series

Here we do not mean talking robot cars, but rather Asus’ family of notebooks with detachable keyboard. Among the innovations here we find Transformer 3 Pro and Transformer 3.

the starter we with the latter, this will undoubtedly be an alternative to the largest iPad Pro – with a weight of 695 grams and thickness of 6.9 millimeters, it is actually marginally smaller and lighter, but also smaller with a 12.6-inch screen.

This Windows tablet offers also on a bright screen with 2880 x 1920 pixels, pen control and a custom removable keyboard.

Again, Asus has chosen USB type-C as the primary charging and transfer. This connector also has Thunderbolt 3.0 support, which then can offer transfer rates of up to 40 Gbit / s. Combined with the Intel Core i7 processor, which is the engine of the whole, can actually Transformer 3 used with Asus’ external XG Station 2, a kind of external graphics card that can also take the job as dock. With such can actually get enough power to drive a modern VR setup.

Asus has however not just copied Apple this time, even Microsoft is represented through Transformer 3 Pro, which is suspiciously similar Surface Pro 4.

Asus Transformer 3 Pro has the whole very much in common with Transformer 3 – including screen resolution and pen support, but offers therefore in a different style and more ports. In addition to the same USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3.0 you get here HDMI, USB 3.0 and memory card reader.

The stated weight is 795 grams and thickness should be at 8.35 millimeters – without keyboard part then, as in addition. The first impression is the way that the keyboard on the Transformer and Transformer Pro seems to be of good quality – like the rest of the hardware in general.

Whether it works as well in a less stressful environment remains to be seen when we get this in the test – which will probably happen in the autumn, when the new models are scheduled to come on the Nordic market.

the prices we get stated is also $ 800 for Transformer 3 and $ 1,000 for Transformer 3 Pro.

It launched tons of new products in Taiwan:
