Rolls-Royce has signed an agreement to supply equipment and design at a value of 355 million new British research.
The design of the 128-meter ship designation UT 851 PRV (Polar Research vessel). It will be used for marine research in the Arctic and Antarctic and to carry supplies to bases.

Top OUT contract
the British Cammel Laird shipyard has been awarded the contract to build the vessel, writes Rolls-Royce said in a statement Monday.
– This is the largest single contract in a UT-vessels we have signed until now, and a very exciting project to work on. In these tough times we are obviously pleased to get solid contracts where our experience from offshore are worth gold, says Jørn Heltne, SVP of sales of Ship Design and Systems in Rolls-Royce.
The contract is also among the largest commercial shipbuilding contracts in the UK ever.
the research vessel will be owned by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and will be named “RRS Sir David Attenborough.”
the ship has already received much attention in social media for a naming contest, which ended with the proposal “boaty McBoatface” was victorious. The British dropped however to follow this advice, and ended up calling it up by the BBC’s famous presenter.
About 100 FTEs in northwest
Communications Director Anette Bonnevie Wollebæk informs that design folks to Rolls-Royce Nordvestlandet already underway. Equipment package also includes work to factories in Ulsteinvik and Haram.
SUNNMØRINGEN Jørn Heltne estimates opposite smp.no contract involves work for around 100 years in More og Romsdal.
The equipment from Rolls-Royce engines include Bergen Engines and two CPP propellers with a diameter of 4.5 meters each. Deck machinery, automation and control systems are also from Rolls-Royce, and the vessel will include “Unified Bridge” that was developed in western Norway.
