In recent years, overclocking on Intel processor was reserved for some models, typically top models, respectively, Core i5 and Core i7 series. This is also the case with the latest generation Core models, where the platform overclocking friendly processors code-named “Devil’s Canyon” and consists model Intel Core i5 4690K and Intel Core i7 4790K.
Recently did Intel, however, an exception. The good old Pentium name fills namely 20 years, Intel’s way to celebrate this is to provide you with a Pentium processor that can be overclocked. We have previously tested Pentium model G3220, and was surprised how much performance you actually get for 400 dollars.
For this reason, we had great expectations when the current test processor, Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition, ended up on the test bench. This fact offers two processor cores with 3.2 GHz operating frequency and open mulitiplikator for easy overclocking, a button femhundrelapp. Read on to see if an overclocked Pentium can Great with Intel’s far more expensive models in the Core i3, i5 and i7 series.
No power plug

The cheapest and easiest processors for Intel’s LGA1150 platform, called Celeron of Pentium, boasting two cores with varying working frequency. By default the working frequency, the current test processor is not the fastest model in the Pentium series, and can therefore in no way be called a powerful processor.
Over the Celeron and Pentium find Intel Core i3 series, which is equipped with two processor cores and hyperthreading. The Intel Core i5 series, we find models with four processor cores, while the most powerful models are placed in the Intel Core i7 series, where we get the four cores and hyperthreading, so the processor has a total of eight logical processor cores.
Modest specifications
Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition boasts two cores, 3 MB L3 cache, and a standard operating frequency of 3.2 GHz. The processor is also equipped with the integrated graphics solution Intel HD Graphics, which offers sufficient power for normal desktop use and multimedia.
This operates with working frequencies up to 1200 MHz, and the borrower up to 1.7 GB memory from the computer’s system memory. The processor is otherwise specified to have a maximum power consumption of 53 watts, and is thus well in small and swanky machines.
