Previously sent the Syrian-Iraqi terrorist group Islamic State (IS) their messages via Twitter.
Has Changed platform
But after Twitter began blocking their accounts, they have changed communication platform.
Now use the Islamic State of Diaspora, a decentralized social network that was launched in 2010 (see video below).
Spread throughout the world
network is spread over a large number of contact points, so that it becomes so virtually impossible to weed out messages from terrorist groups, criminals and others who use the technology to illegal and harmful activities.
The team behind Diaspora has posted a message on his blog where they take sharp distance of IS and their activity.
– There is no method
same time they emphasize that unlike Twitter is not able to stop the messages.
– There is no way for us to change or remove content from a particular node in the network (which we call a “pod”). This can be one of the reasons that IS was attracted to our network, according to the blog post.
Taking contact with each
Those behind behind Diaspora has nevertheless as best they can to stop the IS messages.
They contact each node and ask them to keep looking for material from IS and removed it when they come across it.
– Not much to do
But this is something close to an impossible task, we believe Jamie Bartlett, author of the book “The Dark Net”.
– There is not much to do. Because of the basic technology is decentralized services like this incredibly difficult to get hold of the police. Every time they crack down on it, the service a little smarter and a little better at hiding. It is absolutely inevitable that organizations that IS is among the first to use such innovations, says Bartlett said.
It launches Diaspora team the decentralized network in 2010:
