The measure is one of several that became known after a meeting between industry and fisheries minister Elisabeth Aspaker Thursday.

Warranties
Norwegian Guarantee Institute for Export Credits (GIEK) has opened for refinancing guarantees to fish exports to Ukraine through its developing country arrangement. This allows GIEK Credit insurance may take greater risks in Ukraine, said Industry and Fisheries Ministry.
In addition, increased funding for marketing of salmon, trout and pelagic fish under the auspices of the Seafood Council. It is also taken initiatives to strengthen the veterinary professional cooperation between Norway and Ukraine.
Negotiations
Meanwhile, negotiations completed on a bilateral commission for trade, commercial and economic cooperation between Norway and Ukraine, and the intention is to sign the agreement in the fall. The Commission will be an important arena for improving market conditions for Norwegian seafood industry in Ukraine, says the ministry.
Also, contacts Norway Faroe Islands with a view to getting them to discontinue the export duty on two Danish kroner per kilogram of herring and mackerel taken ashore in Norway.
The seafood industry has previously come with a wide variety of wishes to the Minister of Fisheries. Among them is to transfer parts of unused silkdekvoter next year, and permission to have a higher than normal in cages for a period. Will farmers allowed to do so, they can avoid having to harvest fish they do not get sold. Fisheries Minister shall consider also these measures.
