Is the VG-Ege?
– Yes, it is the Reporter… but it is not so that I am VG-Ege. Right now, I am on board the MS Fram outside Sommarøya, and then I’ll cancel some things I have begun in VG before I start fully in the Steamer.
You are fond of large passenger ships, is there a dream job you go to now?
What I will say. They are perhaps not so large, but they are very unique – each in their own way. You can say I go from one dream job to another. This was a difficult choice, for I would not away from the VG. I feel that there is much I have undone that utenriksjournalist. Stories that are not told. People I have not had time to meet and conflicts I have not received the cover. At the same time betting Hurtigruten around the world. And they have the great history as the lifeblood of the kingdom along the coast, that extends long back in time. Should I first leave the VG, it would be for the Steamer.
But it is not Akersgata at you now. How do you move, is it Bergen or Tromsø?
I’m going to have a base in Oslo, and so I will spend some time in the north. I will also be out on the ships as much as possible, especially in the beginning. It is important for me to go out and meet those who work on board, as well as to get the lake back in the blood. Last week I traveled north with the MS "Spitsbergen". It was incredibly great. Right now, I am on the MS Fram on the journey south along the Norwegian coast.
What are you going to do in the Hurtigruten?
– Well, I will be working as a communications manager. The most visible is enough to deal with press enquiries from Norwegian and foreign media. And so should it work with communication, both operationally and strategically. Among other things, to think through the long-term perspective about where the company should.
– now When you leave VG: What do you take with you?
VG is an insane good and the broad school. There has not been a day when I have gone home from work where I haven’t learned something new. And so I have been on a lot of exciting. As the coverage of the Defense for several years, and to work with incredibly brilliant colleagues on utenriksavdelingen – people I’m really going to miss. In addition to it to stand in the midst of real hairy situations with a man who Harald Henden by my side, there are some matters that will always have a special place.
– Perhaps especially the coverage of tolkesaken I’m going to remember. Already when I was a soldier in Afghanistan I thought about how it was going to go with the Armed afghan interpreters the day we were going home. In the almost 5 years Rolf Widerøe and I worked off and on with the case. And the coverage resulted in all 200 afghans finally got to come to Norway. It’s nice to see that the journalism I’ve been involved in have consequences.
I stop not in the VG because I am afraid the future here, or afraid that VG is an insane place to work. I think that VG will make the transition that must in the industry today.
– But the articles about the ferry to denmark is it not more of?
– Huh-huh. There is no disadvantage to be interested in the passenger. After having sailed with the ferry to denmark across the Skagerrak to the familiehytta in Denmark since I was a little kid, sitting it in the blood. I am like a little kid again, only I go on board in Nesodden boat. I think it is an advantage with such a passion in the new job.
