Now Tidal ready for Norway – Klikk.no

Tidal (www.tidalhifi.com) is a brand new streaming deals in Norway.

Tidal is Wimps international version of Wimps own HiFi service. Visually distinguish Tidal from Wimp with another design, but it is on the inside of content, menus and settings is as far as we can see more or less identical.

This is true whether we use Tidal on mobile, tablet, PC or via webspilleren. Tidal is simply Wimp with a slightly different attire.

It enables you’re Wimp user will immediately recognize you. It is still lacking in the Norwegian version of Tidal it “Norwegian” editorially adapted content.

– When it comes editorial profile so we choose to begin with opening TIDAL in Norway with the global profile. This is because we have had such high demand from Norwegians who have been wanting to try, so we have chosen to open a sneak peek for those who want to try TIDAL already now, says Kristin Eldnes to Click Technology.

If you are currently HiFi customer of Wimp, so nothing happens with your subscription – unless you want to switch to Tidal.

– WiMP WiMP HiFi continues exactly as before and TIDAL introduced as a separate product from WIMP, says Kristin Eldnes.

USA first

Tidal was first launched in the US in October and has gained relatively favorable reviews. What distinguishes Tidal (and Wimp) from some other HiFi streaming services is that they also have cooperation with various equipment manufacturers, Sonos, Heos city Denon, Blue Sound, NAD and more. This enables Tidal (and Wimp) is available on these platforms.

What is HiFi streaming?

HiFi sound is not defined in any standards, but used mostly about sound as CD quality (16-bit / 44.1 kHz) or better, often 24-bit 96/192 kHz.

Bit century mention music solution (dynamic resolution), while kHz sampling rate ( says little about the speed of the digital-to-analog process). Generally considered a higher frequency that better than a low frequency.

Tidal offers three levels of streaming:

  • Standard: ACC + 96 kbps
  • High : ACC 320 kbps
  • HiFi: FLAC 1411 kbps

(ACC Advanced Audio Coding) is a standard that was created for lossless audio and was originally designed to succeed MP3 format. Generally one can say that the ACC will deliver better sound quality than MP3 at the same bitrate.

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a format that does not degrade the sound quality – and for that reason has emerged as a popular format for sound.

Tidal streams HiFi with Flac 1411 kbps / 16 bit (FLAC and Alac files). According Wimp this over four times the bit rate to competing services. 320 kbps shall equal the quality of a CD. Wimp has exactly the same quality levels – given that you have Wimp HiFi.

Need new plant?

Tidal can use on your mobile (app) on your PC as a software or via Tidal Web Player (www.listen.tidalhifi.com) or you will eventually be able to use it on systems that Sonos, Heos city Denon and more. Going flow Tidal via mobile is mostly no more to think about than that you should have a good pair of headphones. Use the included earbuds, we doubt a bit if you want to hear a difference in fidelity streaming versus streaming standard definition.

Offline

Tidal’s Wimp also an offline mode. Here it is made very easy to highlight an album or a playlist that “offline”. Individual tracks must be added to a playlist, which then made offline.

It is also easy to create playlists and select albums and artists as favorites. On single tracks must open itself song and go to “låtmenyen” to mark a simple tune as a favorite.

Desk Top version of Tidal does not offer an offline opportunity, it is the only mobile / tablet apps as offers.

How tunes Tidal?

Since we have a limited gotten listened Tidal suitable facilities, we have in this round-eyed us to listen to streaming via mobile / PC and use of headphones.

It is quite okay to tell the difference between standard and hi-quality Tidal . The difference between high quality and hi-quality is not as clear. Here it requires that you have a good pair of headphones.

HiFi turned on the sound more open and detailed and contributes to a comfortable listening experience. The dynamics of the soundstage is also clearer.

Tidal is most intended for those who want to listen to good music in good equipment. Should you have something in the background while you wash up, so you might as well go for a cheaper solution.

Conclusion

Tidal costs NOK 199 per month and is available in Norway now. The price is the same as for Wimp HiFi. Are you Wimp HiFi customer today, we see no immediate reason to ever switch to Tidal since Wimp HiFi in many ways a better service because of the Norwegian custom editorial service. Meanwhile, we understand well that Wimp will out in the world. Wimp is a good service and Tidal enough a better name to go bet on than Wimp, which does not sound so good in English-speaking countries.
