Four people hospitalized after townhouse fire – Aftenposten

Police in Sogn og Fjordane sent out message about the fire on Twitter Friday night. Almost midnight fire crews trying to gain control over the fire. Three of the apartments are completely destroyed, while the fire brigade held on to extinguish the flames in a fourth apartment according to NTB.

Dramatic development

– It’s just announced that the town house where the fire started is ablaze. The fire will also have spread to two other townhouses, said operajonsleder Inge Værøy in Sogn og Fjordane police to bt.no after police had reported about the fire on Twitter.

– There are no reports that it is people inside the house. We are now getting evacuated nearby homes, said Værøy.

The police had no record of how many people lived in the house.

The clock 22.20 wrote police on Twitter that there are still three house burning and that the fire department does not have control of the fire.

Civil Defence was called out to assist.

– Missing water

– We struggle with extinction due to lack of water, says the 110 operator Espen Rysjedal.

Additional resources are called out from the firehouse in Eikefjord and Sorsogon with tankers and crew.

Crew from civil defense Floro is also called out to assist.

– They bring pumps to pump water up from the sea, which is not far away, says Rysjedal.

Five people have been helped by health professionals on site and four people sent to hospital with smoke damage.

– It burns still powerful, and it is very much heat from the fire. Multiple windows of nearby houses are broken, says Rysjedal to BT.

Sonja Flugre nearest neighbor with one of the burnt rowhouses.

– I have sought refuge with a neighbor. The only thing we can do is keep us inside, and hope for the best, says Flugre.

She lives alone, and has been using neighbors to irrigate the house down to prevent the flames from spreading.

– All the neighbors have sprayed their houses with water. The problem is that there are so poor water pressure, says Flugre.

She says that there is a huge array of firetrucks and ambulances on site. Weather is also a concern.

– Fortunately there windless now, but storm reports in the night. I think it will not be much sleep for me, says Flugre.
