It’s no secret that YouTube is struggling to make money, 10 years after launch, and after being the planet’s biggest video.
One of the challenges to YouTube is to entice more people to contribute original content, some competitors who Vimeo and Hulu have had better success with. More YouTube stars are tempted by these because it added up to more revenue – YouTube competitors offering happy to larger shares of advertising revenues.
Content Creators often use YouTube which is brilliant starting point, where one can build up its audience, but it is often difficult to make money on advertising revenues alone.
To avert flight of talent considering YouTube now one subscription solution, writing website Variety, and this may involve a commercial-variant of the website where the producers of content will presumably paid more.
Google has already launched a similar solution that focuses on music content located on pouring service – YouTube Music Key subscriptions and therefore provide an ad-and offline playback of music found on YouTube.
Something similar video is definitely under discussion, but is not confirmed. Variety has received information from a source who works with content for YouTube. Such a solution is welcomed by content producers – all YouTube doing to increase earnings is positive, says sources to the website.
Such a service would definitely challenged competing flow services, but Variety also believes that traditional television has much to fear. More original quality content on YouTube would certainly threaten traditional distribution further, writes Variety.
