[Teknofil.no] In recent years, Samsung enthroned quite so alone on top of the mobile industry. In the fourth quarter 2013 had a market share of almost 30 percent. Apple has also dangled a good distance away, yet in a safe second place, far ahead of the mobile manufacturers like Lenovo, Huawei, LG and others.
Now, new figures from Gartner that Samsung had one disastrous last year in the mobile industry.
In the fourth quarter 2014, the market share theirs to 19.9 percent – down nearly ten percentage points. Poor sales figures for Samsung Galaxy S5 will be the main reason.
Apple has on his side managed to increase its market share from 17.8 in the fourth quarter 2013 to 20.4 percent a year later. So this means that Apple and their iPhone brand outdistanced Samsung downloaded from mobile throne at the end of 2014.
Samsung sold 73 million smartphones in the fourth quarter, while Apple sold nearly 75 million.
Most of Samsung lost market still seems to have come other Android manufacturers most good. Especially Lenovo, the world’s third largest mobile manufacturer of the moment and the Chinese actor Xiaomi. The category “Other” also has overall gained a greater market share.
Looking at Gartner figures for all 2014 still comes Samsung best. They had an overall market share of 24.7 percent (307.5 million sold smartphones). Apple ended up with a market share of “only” 15.4 per cent (191 million sold smartphones), which actually is 0.1 percent less than last year.
Innspurten that Apple got against end of 2014 indicates that it can become very evenly between the two mobile giants in years.
Apple has famously finally launched iPhone models with larger screen, and have even been able to enter the Chinese market. Samsung should also sell far more of its two new Galaxy S6 models, which fortunately seems far more exciting than last year’s S5 flop.
Overall, it was sold 1.2 billion smartphones during 2014, an increase the entire 28.3 percent from the year before. According to Gartner constitute smartphone figures two-thirds of the total number of mobile phones sold worldwide. The rest is thus simple basic phones (feature phones). (ANB)
