Want help journalists.
Edward Snowden has designed a special protection for the iPhone 6.
How will they do it
iPhone cover is made with hardware hacker Andrew “Bunnie” Huang. The accessories connected to the SIM card, and can thus detect creepy signals that tries to listen on your device.
To describe Snowden protection:
“This accessory does not look like anything other than a battery pack with a small mono-color screen, but it will act as a sort of mini-oscilloscope: small wires from the peripherals would sneak into the iPhone via the mobile’s SIM card holder in order to analyze the mobile motherboard.
These wires are reading the electrical signals of the two antennas on the cell phone used by the radios including GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and modem. “
the two believe that this is a safer way to avoid snooping than using Airplane Mode which can be hacked and tricked.
Launching maybe next year
it is not designed hardware prototypes, the only thing the two has detailed documented papers on how the device should work.
They hope, however, to produce a prototype within the next year and start mass production in China. The hedged phones will be offered primarily to journalists and newsrooms.
Software code and hardware design is open source so as not to worry the Chinese manufacturers.
