UFS may become the new standard.

MicroSD can be regarded as the successor to miniSD and was launched as a standard of SD Card Association in 2005. Now its successor be ready.

Samsung has launched the world’s first UFS cards, or Universal Flash Storage, with capacity of 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB.

it’s not the size front it new card stand out, but rather on performance. UFS cards have a sequential read speed of 530 megabytes per second. That’s five times faster than the best microSD cards.

While a UHS-1 microSD cards use 50 seconds to read a full-HD movies in five gigabytes, use UFS short ten seconds, says Samsung.

Also write speed is better than on microSD cards, almost twice as fast. UFS will manage up to 170 megabytes per second, the comparison fails the fastest microSD cards 100 megabytes per second.

Samsung says that speed is essential to meet the requirements of the future with high-resolution footage from smartphones, action cameras, drones and 360-degree cameras.

When these cards may be found in devices remains unclear, but you should not ignore that the first will be in the company’s Galaxy mobiles.
